I went to Penzeys Spices for the first time this weekend, hoping to find a birthday gift for my father who, since retiring, has found an interest in The Food Network. He especially enjoys altering recipes with a “little bit of this and a dash of that,” so it seemed appropriate to add more “this and that” to my parents’ spice cabinet. I couldn’t believe the array of spices and blends available, each one more fragrant than the last. I especially loved the vibrancy of the Vietnamese cinnamon, which I purchased for myself along with plenty of others. An overhaul of my own spice cabinet is definitely in order.
