Bauble of the Week

image

Welcome to week two of Art Deco “Baubles of the Week.” What can I say? When I like something, I don’t move on very quickly. In last week’s post, Lorena mentioned that the Tiffany ring wasn’t as fabulous in person. No matter. I’m becoming more and more enamored with these 14k gold Deco rings by Grace Lee Designs

Bauble of the Week

I included this Tiffany ring in Thursday’s "Currently Coveting" post, but its Art Deco design and engraved daisy pattern deserve the spotlight this week—and a place in my jewelry box. I’ve been gazing dreamily at this ring everyday for well over a week. Even though I don’t think I’ll find a little blue box under the Christmas tree, it’s a mighty fine contender for my 2014 tax return splurge.

Review: Stella Valle Earrings

Let’s get this out of the way right now: I love these earrings. I first learned of Stella Valle earlier this month and admired the brand’s mix of feminine details with strong, masculine elements. This pair of earrings showcases the strong Art Deco influence of its latest collection.

The earrings retail for $125 and are definitely worth the investment. They’re well made and each of the earrings are adorned with 11 attention-grabbing, rhinestone baguettes.

One word of warning: the earrings are heavy. I actually switched out the standard earring back in favor of a plastic disc backing to distribute the weight evenly and prevent drooping. With that simple switch, they’re comfortable for all-day wear. (One of my irrational fears is becoming an old woman with drooping earlobes. Given how much I love big earrings, it’s a very real concern!)

You can learn a bit more about the brand here, where you’ll also find details for a giveaway!

Giveaway: Stella Valle

Military training isn’t the most conventional route to a career in fashion, but it works flawlessly for the sisters behind Stella Valle: Ashley Jung and Paige Dellavalle. Their surprising background inspires the designers to incorporate masculine elements in their work, but it’s always juxtaposed expertly by feminine refinement.

The standout pieces are from the “Nonnina” line. As the ladies mention on their blog, the Italian term of endearment for a grandmother inspired the Art Deco creations - and became a tribute to the strong women of our grandmothers’ era. Below, you’ll have the chance to win the beautiful Lillian necklace!

Discount! After entering the giveaway, mix an elderflower cocktail (this one, perhaps?) and shop Stella Valle’s collection. To sweeten the deal, they’re generously giving you a $25 discount through February 14, 2013. It’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new bauble just in time for Valentine’s Day.
