Friday Find Under $50

Dorothy Perkins dress, $29

If my love for scalloped edges wasn’t obvious by the sunglasses in this post, this dress should make it even more evident. The texture on this darling frock is made up of little scalloped edges.

For Home | For You

A classic mix of red, white and blue is always a welcome addition to your home or wardrobe. Of course the color scheme can tread dangerously into nautical territory, but these items keep seafaring to a minimum. At home, try a navy and white pillow in a scalloped design, or a red lacquered tray. For you, the ruffled tank by Sea is a darling option. (In fact, many of Sea’s pre-fall items are too fantastic to miss.)

I bought this dress from J.Crew years ago and it has since become a frock I reach for repeatedly each fall. It’s a simple, a-line shift, but the ruffles on the bottom keep it from looking too mundane. It’s also the perfect canvas for this Ann Taylor jacket.

Sartorial Summary
Dress: J.Crew (similar) // Coat: Ann Taylor // Bag: Coach (vintage, but current version here) // Shoes: Kate Spade (similar) // Bracelet: Gorjana // Earrings: Jeweliq (no longer available, but the necklace version is here) // Nails: Revlon “Peachy”

When my cousin’s wedding invitation landed in my mailbox, I did what most of us do: proclaim (in a closet full of clothes) that I had absolutely nothing to wear. I’m quite thankful for my lack of party-perfect dresses, otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased this dress at J.Crew. The ultra versatile frock has already become one of my favorites.

Dress: J.Crew // Clutch: Diane von Furstenberg (similar) // Cuff: Melinda Maria (similar) // Shoes: Kate Spade (similar)

When I was young, I wanted to marry someone whose last name started with an H just so I wouldn’t have to change my monogram. Of course I’ve outgrown that impractical requirement, but I’m pretty happy (and a bit relieved) that Dave shares the same last initial as me.
