Lately, I’m loving flats for their casual elegance, ladylike charm and uncompromising practicality. These four have been in heavy rotation over the last few weeks. Clockwise from top: Forever21, Kate Spade (similar), Ferragamo, JoieView comments)
Let’s just preface this by saying that I don’t really encourage shopping at Forever21 and I know d’orsay flats aren’t for everyone,* but I had to see these shoes in person after spotting them online.
Utterly and completely smitten.
I’ve actually admired Jenni Kayne’s version for awhile, but thought the style was too trendy to spend a lot of cash on. Sorry, Jenni, $26 is more my speed. The bedazzling is just icing on the sartorial cake.
I wore them on Saturday and, as with any cheap shoe, I was bracing myself for the worst: painful blisters and unsightly dye transfer. Neither of which happened. They stretched out just a tad throughout the day, so I’d recommend sizing down if you’re a half size. Otherwise, your regular size is best. There’s a little piece of elastic sewn into the inside of the heel to prevent it from slipping.
*The misplaced hatred of d’orsay flats, by the way, is ridiculous. Those clunky high top sneakers are much worse.(View comments)

Rampage bow sandals, $24.99
I promised myself that I wouldn’t post another pair of sandals for this week’s Friday Find Under $50, but I couldn’t pass up these pretty bow sandals that look like the Kate Spade pair I yearned for years ago. I’m debating between mint and red. Which color do you fancy?
You can find the sandals at a few retailers, but Belk (linked above) is the cheapest. Amazon also has a large selection of available sizes.

Zara sandals, $39.90
If I didn’t already purchase a pair of blue sandals in anticipation of summer, I’d definitely be adding these to my wardrobe. They’re the most irresistible shade of sapphire.(View comments)
I had been home sick for the last three days with some sort of cold/flu hybrid. It made for a long weekend of DayQuil and daytime television. On yesterday’s episode of The View, I learned that years of wearing sky-high heels caused irreparable damage to Sarah Jessica Parker’s feet. She’s now putting away the Manolos in favor of more sensible options. Although underrated, flats make a cocktail ensemble effortlessly chic. Choose a pair with a pointy toe in metallic or patent leather.View comments)
Zara flats, $49.90
On my previous blog, I had a weekly roundup called “Friday Finds Under $50.” I was fed up with magazines (ahem, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue) insisting that anything under $500 was a style steal. My budget certainly doesn’t allow for that, so I wanted to work with a more realistic budget. There are great pieces at every price point if you have the patience to look for them. While I obviously couldn’t attest to the quality of the items in “Friday Finds,” I hoped that the weekly post would inspire readers to thoughtfully consider lower-priced items.
I stopped doing the post because it took a lot of time to put together a collage of five items under $50, but I just had to bring it back in some capacity when Emily mentioned on Twitter that she missed the feature. So, here’s the debut “Friday Find Under $50!”(View comments)
