Tickled Pink

The air conditioner at our office has been on the fritz, giving me an excuse to wear my favorite summer dresses to work. No, they’re not the most professional, but it’s one of the perks of working in a casual office. I wore this pink frock yesterday, the first day I was able to go partial weight-bearing on my cast. I still have to use crutches, but at least I could set them aside and spend a few minutes upright on my own! It’s the little things. Three weeks down, three to go, and then I can start enjoying summer.

This week, I’m coveting:

A romper that will transition easily into fall.

Lulu Frost’s horn earrings on sale for $53. This jewelry trend isn’t going away anytime soon, so you may as well pick up some of these key pieces when they’re on sale.
The beloved bag of fashion lovers everywhere. As much as I’d love to pre-order one for the August shipment, I’m talking myself out of it. We’re thisclose to booking a trip instead.
These summer statement earrings from Kenneth Jay Lane. I highlighted them earlier this year, but now they’re a steal at just $18 on sale.
This shirred blouse from Banana Republic. It’s currently on promotion for just $40. You can shrug the neckline down to make it into an off-the-shoulder top. I purchased it in black earlier this week. I had a $50 Gap, Inc. Rewards coupon from my credit card and added this pair of shorts to reach the minimum.

Pineapple Pendant

Even though there was a shipping delay on my birthday gift this year, it was worth the wait. Dave surprised me with this Lee Renee pineapple pendant. I first fell in love with the piece with I interviewed the designer back in February of last year and had no idea I’d be spoiled with it months afterward. Isn’t it just the cutest thing? It’s tiny, as you can see in the stock images, but the attention to detail is wonderful and it has a nice weight to it. The solid silver piece is handmade in London with an 18k gold plate.

Manic Monday

Last week I mentioned that I was fed up with my professional wardrobe situation. I took care of that problem shortly after with a large J.Crew order. While I’m most excited about the dress, it needs to be taken to the tailor when I can finally stand without the help of crutches. The top needs to be taken in and the straps brought up. (Basically, the same alteration I get for every dress that isn’t a loose shift.) This skirt comes in at a close second. I wasn’t sure what to expect since it’s a linen-cotton blend, but it’s pretty substantial. It’s also fully lined and it has pockets. Love. It.

I’ve been wearing a version of this outfit to work every day with my crutches. I just can’t bring myself to tuck pants into the boot! I should be able to start putting some weight on my foot this Thursday and I can expect to rid myself of the crutches and the boot by mid-July. Not only am I excited to walk again, I’m anxious to stand up straight in blog photos and use something other than a crossbody purse! It’s the little things.
