When it comes to choosing between a hotel versus an Airbnb, I will always choose a hotel. There’s a level of reliability that comes with a hotel. I love coming back to a freshly made bed and clean towels that I didn’t have to deal with. There are often fancy toiletries. Room service! And it’s so convenient to be able to store your luggage if you arrive early or want to explore after checkout.
Plus, I often leave inspired by the interior design — especially when we stay in an exceptionally beautiful space like we did this summer in Philadelphia.
We stayed at the Bellevue Hotel, one of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection properties. We redeemed points to stay in the one-bedroom suite, which otherwise runs around $780 per night — not a price tag I could otherwise afford for a multiple-night stay, but it was an absolute treat to stay here. The hotel first opened in 1904 as the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel and has hosted more than a dozen U.S. presidents and celebrities such as Grace Kelly. The hotel recently underwent a major renovation that preserves its traditional design but with more modern elements like swapping ornate chandeliers for streamlined Venetian glass. The design team also reintroduced classic elements that had been stripped from the guest rooms over years with mouldings, millwork, and fireplace surrounds and decorated the spaces in a feminine, French Renaissance style. As you’ll see in these photos of the suite, there’s plenty of inspiration to draw from.
