Jump Around

June 22, 2017 by jessica 7 Comments

jumpsuit

I bought this deeply discounted jumpsuit at Anthropologie in November and it sat in the closet with the tags still attached until it was finally warm enough to wear it last weekend. Bathroom acrobatics aside, it was such a fun, eye-catching piece to wear! Plus, it was a practical choice for a windy day because I didn’t have to wrestle with a hemline threatening to cause what I call a “Marilyn moment.” 😉 Next time, though, I’ll style it differently with these statement earrings, pearl sandals (in this post) and a black DVF clutch (seen here).

Florals for Spring

Vero Moda Drop Waist Floral Shirt Dress + Cult Gaia Ark Bag

I know we still have awhile to go before spring is officially here. (Thirty-four days, in fact, It’s not like I’m counting down or anything.) However, I just couldn’t resist breaking out my latest wardrobe addition this past weekend when the temperatures flirted with the above-freezing mark. This dress is, without a doubt, my favorite piece for spring. I love the long sleeves and shirt detailing at the top that make it appropriate for work. I love the swingy, gathered skirt that hits right above the hips. And I especially love the wallet-friendly price tag of just $58. It’s not often that one of my go-to pieces comes in at such a low price, but it’s serendipitous when it does!

P.S. There are just a couple of days left to win a sterling silver charm necklace from Helen Ficalora. More details here!

Rainbow

rainbow

If it wasn’t obvious from my near radio silence over the last week, I’m entering my busiest work period of the year. The stress is starting to get to me, as it does every year. I’ve been kind of a wreck with anxiety-related insomnia, which brings on spontaneous tears as I try to get through my growing to-do list. (Dave actually calls me “Stressica” in September and October!) I’m sure I’ll be feeling like my #GirlBoss self again soon, especially since there’s no other option than to hustle my way through the next couple of months. It’s definitely easier with a big grin, a ridiculously bright dress, and frequent trips to Starbucks. (Venti, please.)

Falling for Floral

LOFT Woodblock Floral Shirtdress

I spotted this shirt dress Thursday morning and hesitated to purchase the online-only item. I wasn’t sure what size I’d need and I didn’t have enough “ride-along items” to qualify for free shipping. As luck would have it, my final meeting of the day on Thursday was next to the local LOFT store where I spotted this piece hanging by its lonesome. It was a size small, which I would never had started with in the fitting room had a full size run been available, but it miraculously fit. It was obviously meant to be. 😉 I love the three-quarter length sleeves and the muted color palette, which make the dress a perfect summer-to-fall transitional piece.

And then, since I was on a sartorial lucky streak, I noticed that this Cynthia Rowley dress that I purchased last week is now available at an even steeper discount and headed to the store for a price adjustment. I haven’t featured the Cynthia Rowley dress on the blog yet. If you decide to order it, choose a size to fit your bust. The body of the dress is a wide, swing shape, so that’s not much of a concern for fit. (I ended up choosing a size 6.) The dress is absolutely gorgeous and well made.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
