LATELY, I HAVE:

admired a pretty window displays at Tiffany’s

worn my daytime essentials: big sunglasses, big jewelry, a Fitbit, and a hair elastic

strolled through Chicago

found a Christmas gift for a friend’s daughter

worn new earrings and a necklace c/o Gerard Yosca

embraced the holiday spirit in Chicago

found inspiration to wear a lilac sweater from the Michael Kors display window

Lately1

My holiday accessorizing is all taken care of, thanks to this glam necklace c/o Gerard Yosca. This mixture of hammered gold domes and rhinestone baguettes and pave remind me of confetti.

I love this set of Victoria’s Secret pajamas so much that I bought them in both grey and black and I would have snagged the pink version if it wasn’t so sheer. The fabric is silky with a bit of stretch, making them ultra comfortable without becoming baggy overnight (my biggest frustration with cotton sets).

I had been awfully stressed prepping for our annual expo and didn’t want to go out on the weekends, so we spent evenings at home trying new beers. I purchased this mermaid bottle opener on last year’s trip to D.C., but there are plenty of versions available on Amazon.

I bought this DVF purse on Gilt last year and it’s still one of my favorites. (I don’t feature it often here, though. I usually opt for a purse I can put my camera in after taking photos.) It’s now available online at Saks Off Fifth and I strongly recommend it if you’re in the market for a small bag. It fits a card case, an iPhone, beauty essentials, and a bulky set of keys with room to spare. Besides, the bright red is pretty fun. (My dress is no longer available, but this one is similar.)

I spent Labor Day weekend visiting my parents in Northern Wisconsin and took a detour past my childhood home. No one has purchased the house yet. My hometown is pretty economically depressed and buyers are more interested in an open concept home—not exactly a strength of a Victorian.

image

Finally purchased NARS’ “orgasm” blush after hearing great things about it for years. With sheer, buildable coverage, it’s just as good as everyone says. I also bought a charcoal mask that I’m thrilled with. It didn’t do much the first couple of times, but I woke up with noticeably softer skin and clearer pores after night three.

image

I’ve been layering dainty gems in lieu of a larger piece of jewelry. The hammered bar is by Gorjana and the gemstone piece is Kalan by Suzanne Kalan.

image

During our Labor Day visit, we headed up to Bayfield and took the ferry over to Lake Superior’s Madeline Island.

image

I bought my first fall item: this gorgeous floral skirt by Ted Baker. The quality is impeccable and it even has a small crinoline to keep the bottom full. It’s still a little too warm to wear it, but it makes the approaching cool weather easier to tolerate.

While I knew the house had potential, it was hard to look past some of the owner’s “design” choices. Though, it looks like the room was destined to have a warm-toned quilt. 😂

P.S. @schoolhouse just released new colors of their popular Stillwater Floral Quilt!

And, for those interested, I’ve linked my bedroom items here: https://liketk.it/5iC8R

It also inadvertently became the weekend I made Dave eat a cheeseburger every day, between @redhotranchchicago, @eatmottst, and @smallcheval. There are worst ways to spend a weekend.

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

• Spent quality time with my favorite cat

• Biked for Pacificos, chips and quac, and tacos at @bandit.tacos

• Loved how the rain collected on the Lady’s Mantle I planted last year

• Dipped my toes (quite literally) into this year’s mesh shoe trend

• Snapped a lot of Lily content

• Drove home with a new lilac in the passenger seat
