Behind the Baubles: Elva Fields
Emily Wheat Maynard, Designer, Elva Fields
Designer Emily Wheat Maynard explored the relationship between Italian Renaissance and ancient Greek and Roman jewelry for her Masters thesis at The Bard Graduate Center for Decorative Arts, Design, and Culture in New York City. This passion for historic jewelry inspired Emily to take a semester at the Jewelry Arts Institute in Manhattan to acquire the skills necessary to launch Elva Fields Jewelry in 2003. Her line features vintage and antique finds that are reworked into stunning necklaces and earrings.

Bauble of the Week
Melinda Maria’s aqua onyx pieces are stunning, but I’m particularly fond of this pair of earrings for its unique shape and subtle pyramid studs. (Her items are worth the splurge. I have one of her cuffs and I adore it. You can see it here.)
Friday Find Under $50
Juicy Couture clutches, $39.99 each
I adore photo prints paired with stark basics (as you can see here), but I don’t think the trend is worth a serious investment. These Juicy Couture clutches have recently been reduced to a wallet-friendly $40. Which would you choose? A serene ocean print or beachy palm trees?
(I was a bit wary that the description indicates there’s a logo on the back of the clutch, but they don’t show a photo. You can see it on the back of clutch here at Shopbop.)
Currently Coveting
Right now, I’m coveting:
- This sophisticated Diane von Furstenberg clutch. I’m planning to purchase it next month. (So excited!)
- A pretty pitcher that looks even more gorgeous filled with a strawberry pink cocktail
- A graphic crane-print dress to pair with flat sandals now and work-ready pumps this fall.
- Art Deco earrings from Tory Burch
- A quirky crab trinket box
- This hue for weekday manicures
- Silver flats with a small hint of gold at the heel (I ordered these on Tuesday and will let you know if they’re fabulous in person)
