WIN IT! $300 TO UGALLERY

June 24, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

When I was in college, I’d scrimp and save in order to purchase an item at the annual art fair. Sometimes it was pottery, other times glass, but many times it was a photograph. I loved adding a new piece to my collection, even if it meant that it would sit unframed in a closet until I had the means to take care of it. (And if we’re being honest, I still have a sizable number that need frames.)

I still get a rush of excitement when I add a piece to my collection, which is why I’m thrilled to introduce you to UGallery.com, an online gallery of high quality, original artwork at price points every budget can appreciate—and one lucky lady will receive a $300 credit to add a piece to her growing art collection.

Browse the site by price, color, medium, size, or simply check out my curated gallery for a selection of bright and beach-y favorites, then come back and let me know what piece you’d love to add to your collection. As always, there are bonus entries for supporting Bedknobs & Baubles and our sponsor. Good luck!

Loving Lately

Lately, I’m loving:

  • Yet another bouquet of tulips. I can’t help myself.
  • This trench coat in navy. Before my self-imposed shopping ban went into effect, I placed one more order at Banana Republic. The jacket has a subtle sheen that makes it feel more elevated than your standard-issue beige trench and the striped lining with magenta piping won me over. As some of the reviews mention, it really is tight in the shoulders and bust, so take that into account if you have your eye on it. The white eyelet shift also arrived last week, which was a huge disappointment. I was pining for this since BR’s spring preview last fall and it fell short of expectations. It runs really small and I didn’t love it enough to go up another size or two to get the carefree fit that dress needs. The final item from my order (this dress) is scheduled to arrive today. Fingers crossed for a success!
  • A batch of lemon bars I made yesterday afternoon. Even though they’re one of my favorite sweets, I rarely make them because I’ll eat the entire pan within the week. Time to cue up a workout with Jillian Michaels to burn off that pound of butter.
  • A pair of Loeffler Randall sandals for just $62. Will someone please buy all of the size 7s so I’m not tempted anymore?!

Lately, I’m loving:

  • A simple arrangement of daffodils that reminds me how much I Iove yellow. I look terrible in the hue, but perhaps a small dose of lemon by way of this clutch is in order?
  • March Madness, even if Kansas screwed up my bracket. I have Virginia going all the way, but I’d prefer to see my alma mater make it to the end. Go Badgers!
  • More spring cleaning. I went through our hall closet last weekend, resulting in three bags for Goodwill and two for the trash. I still can’t get over how much stuff we’ve donated this season, but it’s a huge relief to get rid of unloved items. (It’ll also make moving much easier. We’re past due for a two-bedroom apartment.)
  • Tory Burch’s botanical print in either the shirt or the scarf. I’m becoming such a Tory Burch fan and I need to own this print in some fashion. I actually had my eye on the dress from the runway presentation, but it’s not available yet. What do you think? Spring for the shirt or wait for the dress? The dress does seem more “me,” but the shirt might be more versatile.

Mini Moments

Obviously I didn’t leave the house much in January, thanks to the biting cold of the polar vortex. At this point, I think we all deserve an early spring! Here’s hoping the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow in a couple of days.

In January, I…

  • Wore this Chloe + Isabel arrow necklace (enter to win one here)
  • Dreamed of a tropical escape
  • Purchased my first bouquet of tulips of the season
  • Won a lovely polka dot clutch from Kayu that I can’t wait to wear with these Julie Vos earrings
  • Spent a lazy morning in bed with the cat
  • Found a pretty cocktail dress at Express of all places
  • Layered two of my favorite everyday rings from Karen Hsiang and Cynthia Jones
  • Braved the polar vortex in a pair of bright wellies from Joules
  • Opted for a summery mani and pedi

Loving Lately

Lately, I’m loving:

  • A fresh bouquet of tulips from the grocery store. They’re my favorite flower and it seems like ages since they’ve been available. Spring must be right around the corner!
  • The Tory Burch shoes I panic purchased. They were starting to sell out in a size 7 at other retailers and I couldn’t risk letting them go. They’re scheduled to arrive today.
  • Delving deeper into research for a Belgian getaway in July. I’m antsy to eat and drink my way through Brussels: mussels, frites, chocolate and beer! All of my favorites! Have you visited the country? Any must-sees that we should add to our itinerary?

It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. We flew out to Philadelphia last Friday for a few days of exploring. It was our first time in the City of Brotherly Love and we loved every minute of it from the architecture to the restaurants, and most of all: the welcoming and friendly people. After that, we had one night at home before a flight to Denver to celebrate my cousin’s wedding. We got back to Madison late last night and have spent the day puttering around the house, getting caught up on laundry, grocery shopping, harvesting the season’s first tomatoes from the garden, and admiring just how much the hydrangeas have grown in the course of a week.
I always get a kick out of comparing views of our I always get a kick out of comparing views of our home today to the photos I took during our home inspection. (Swipe to see our main bedroom then!) While I knew the house had potential, it was hard to look past some of the owner’s “design” choices. Though, it looks like the room was destined to have a warm-toned quilt. 😂

P.S. @schoolhouse just released new colors of their popular Stillwater Floral Quilt!

And, for those interested, I’ve linked my bedroom items here: https://liketk.it/5iC8R

It also inadvertently became the weekend I made Dave eat a cheeseburger every day, between @redhotranchchicago, @eatmottst, and @smallcheval. There are worst ways to spend a weekend.

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.
