Adding unnecessary bulk to your hips seems like a stupid thing to do, but a peplum top (like this one from Anthropologie) is actually an extremely figure-flattering piece. The seam curves in at your natural waistline, while the peplum gently flares out to hide any evidence of last month’s Easter candy. I’m particularly fond of this one because it’s made of a thick, stretchy cotton that eliminates the need for a zipper and promises a perfect fit.

I don’t normally purchase items at full price – especially without a coupon code – but this one was definitely worth the $78.

I relied on a single pair of cheap sunglasses for years: $20 oversize aviators from Shopko. When those finally succumbed to the pressure of being kept in the car and tossed in my tote bag, I invested in a “nice” pair … and then another. Given how dramatically shades can change the look of an outfit, it’s much more fun to have a small wardrobe of options to choose from.

Top Row: Jessica Simpson ($45); Ray-Ban ($145); Kate Spade ($128)

Middle Row: KBL ($160); Michael Kors ($99); Prada ($225)

Bottom Row: Elizabeth & James ($185); Diane von Furstenberg ($150); Jeepers Peepers ($29.09)
