Outfit | Elie Tahari x DesigNation

September 29, 2014 by jessica

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]W[/dropcap]ould you believe I’ve never been to New York? A trip to the city comes up each time we plan a vacation, but another destination always seems to capture my imagination by the time we’re ready to purchase plane tickets. (Truth be told, I’m a little nervous that once I visit, I’ll never want to head back to the Midwest again!)

Until we actually make plans to jet set to the city that never sleeps, I’m embracing the spirit of New York through Elie Tahari’s collaboration with DesigNation. If you’re not familiar with DesigNation, it’s a biannual collaboration from Kohl’s that brings a designer’s signature looks to an expanded audience with a fun twist: each collection is inspired by a different locale. (Next up: Milly in spring 2015 with a collection inspired by Capri, Italy.)

I teamed up with Kohl’s to share two looks incorporating pieces from the collection. I’m not one to run out and purchase a new head-to-toe ensemble, so I was pleased to discover Elie Tahari’s collection is filled with versatile items punctuated with subtle textures and luxe details. In short, the perfect way to update your wardrobe without sacrificing your signature look. The neoprene pieces are really the standouts of the collection and this jacket is by far my favorite item. The faux fur inset adds just the right amount of daytime glam. Check back on Wednesday to see this dress in action.

On an unrelated note, Julie Vos recently relaunched her website and I’m thrilled to style a few of my favorite pieces to celebrate the launch. I’ll talk about it more later this week, but if you’re antsy to expand your jewelry collection, use code bedknobsandbaubles for 20% off sitewide.

Jacket: c/o Elie Tahari x DesigNation | Dress: J.Crew (old; also love this one) | Clutch: DVF | Shoes: J.Crew | Necklace: c/o Julie Vos | Ring: c/o Julie Vos | Bracelet: Hermes | Sunglasses: c/o Rivet & Sway | Nails: Essie “After School Boy Blazer” | Lips: Stila “Fiore”

You look stunning Jessica, I love that little dress. There’s always an item you’re wearing that I want right away lol. I’ve been to NYC twice and I had a blast both times I just love that city, not sure I could live there but I love it.

These photos are fabulous! And the Tahari collection is perfect on you. If you plan a trip to NYC, make sure to stop by DC, it’s only a short train ride away!

I love DC so much! We’ve visited every year for the last three. It feels strange to not have a DC trip on the calendar this year!

I’m so sad this jacket is online only, because I would have loved to have seen it in person! (Which isn’t to say I couldn’t just order it online and see if I like it, but then you know I would likely end up keeping it…)

Anyway, it does look gorgeous on you, and I’m also really excited about the Milly collection. Not that I will stop searching for a real Milly piece to add to my closet, just that it has a lot of promise I will adore it. Milly + Italy, how could I not?

First, I have never been to NY either for the EXACT same reason. I plan to go every year and either the cold weather here in Chicago, or my imagination, drive me to press confirm on the destination with sand, sun and cold cocktails. Second, I love the details on this jacket. It’s a stunning piece for fall. XO

Love this look! Such a chic jacket and actually affordable thanks to those Kohl’s collabs. NYC is pretty magical, but living here can be a little less glamourous. It’s always nice to be reminded of how much other people love the city!

Awww, I love New York. I think you will too if you like the fast pace city life, but if you’re a countryside girl, then it’s probably not for you. Like the coat.

I’m a transplanted midwestern who’s been living in NYC for the past 14 years. Hope you make it here one day! Love the dress and jacket!

Jessica, you look gorgeous! I love your jacket. I’m a big fan of everlasting that incorporates faux fur in some way. I want one for myself!

There’s a good chance you might not want to go home after your visit New York (I certainly feel that way every time), but it truly is an amazing place. I hope you get a chance to visit soon.
