Prep School

January 12, 2015 by jessica

January-Outfit-2v19

Last week’s wind chills brought Madison to -30 degrees. Schools were cancelled, my office was closed, and all I wanted to do was dive back under the covers and hibernate until spring. We ventured out on Sunday (a balmy 26 degrees) to take a few photos of what’s become my winter uniform. You might balk at my bare ankles (that Fran so affectionately calls “hussy ankles”), but I promise you that Wisconsin made my skin weirdly resistant to cold weather. If it’s not windy, not under zero degrees, and I’m not expected to be outside longer than it takes to scamper from the car, I’m showing a little skin. Scandalous.

In other news, I bought a new bag! I agonized between it and this mod canteen purse (ahem, first-world problems), but the more versatile option seemed like a better bet. I’m already daydreaming about bringing it on vacation. There’s plenty of room for my camera and for the little trinkets I collect throughout the day. (At risk of being dubbed a cat lady, Bacon was also pretty jazzed about the purchase.)

I do NOT envy your cold. We are having our own little cold burst and I can barely handle it! However, I do envy those darling shoes!

I find it so strange people are always concerned about people wearing flats in the winter. If it’s not actually snowing, and the walkway is clear, why bundle all the way up for just a short time outside? HUSSY ANKLES FOR LIFE 😉

speaking of, yesterday i was walking out of the gym in cropped leggings and an old man was walking in and pointed to me and goes “HEY! YOU MUST BE FREEZING” (he was yelling this) and I just said “nope, I’m from Wisconsin, this is nothing” 😉

You’re wearing such a classy and classic look, you look stunning! Can’t believe you’re daring to go outside with bare skin, but I admire you. I’m sticking to boots this time of the year. 😉 x

I wish I were that desensitized to the cold, but if I dared my sequined loafers right now I’d be pretty sad. Needless to say they do look adorable and so fun with the black and white look.

Love the new bag – of course the problems, the agony! You chose well, not having to carry two bags for the camera is a major plus while traveling.

Also, Bacon is Dave’s cat, right? Therefore you can’t be a crazy cat lady… you just happen to live with him, and like him.
