Behind the Baubles | Jet Set Candy

JetSetCandy1v3

After a six-month hiatus, “Behind the Baubles” is back and I couldn’t be more excited to reintroduce the series to you with my latest jewelry crush: Jet Set Candy. This is the ultimate jewelry-meets-travel collection with wearable keepsakes to commemorate your favorite destinations. The are darling rings, pendants, bracelets, and over 200 charms to choose from, ranging from luggage tags to hookahs to cocktail shakers. Founder Nicole Parker King, a world traveler herself, spared no details when creating these pint-sized souvenirs. Just look at this British candy charm with its brightly colored Smarties! My favorites are the Amsterdam pieces, but only because there isn’t a Brussels luggage tag with a teeny glass of beer!

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]W[/dropcap]ith just one look through Tiffany Kunz’s website, you’ll understand why her work is my latest jewelry obsession. Her elegant pieces have an eclectic tribal-meets-vintage vibe that still manages to be elegant. (Really, is anything better than this necklace or this ring?) Beyond her unique aesthetic, however, there are two even more compelling reasons to check out her work: a commitment to sustainability and a commitment to empowering impoverished women worldwide. Read more about both initiatives here.

As you’ll see, the “Beyond the Baubles” feature has taken on a new look, but the same lighthearted “get to know the designer” tidbits are there. Enjoy! (Let me know if there’s anything you’d like added to the Q&A!)

[blockquote]The proudest moment of my career was executing a challenging engagement ring and having the client love it!  I opened a bottle of champagne that day and it is partly how I began my path in metalsmithing. When multiple jewelers turned down the design saying it was too much work, I was intrigued to have a go at it myself. [/blockquote]

Behind the Baubles | Elizoebeth Jensen

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]B[/dropcap]efore I read the “About” section on Elizoebeth Jensen’s website, I kept summarizing her collection with two words: modern heirloom. So, you can imagine how smug I was to read that she “set out to create the perfect alchemy between everyday wearable, luxe jewelry and timeless collectible pieces.” I have no doubt you’ll treasure one of her designs for a lifetime, especially when the attention to detail in her delicate 14K designs is impeccable. Take, for instance, the arrowhead rings (my favorite) that expertly incorporate Art Deco designs into an undeniably feminine piece.

Allow me to introduce you to my latest jewelry crush: KiraKira. After pursuing design in Tuscany and Japan, it’s perhaps not surprising that designer Suz Somersall continued to seek inspiration from far flung destinations. Fun Fact #1: The brand is named after the Japanese word for “shimmer.”

Everyone we met in Philly apologized for their gruff nature, despite no one actually living up to that stereotype. 😂

It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. We flew out to Philadelphia last Friday for a few days of exploring. It was our first time in the City of Brotherly Love and we loved every minute of it from the architecture to the restaurants, and most of all: the welcoming and friendly people. After that, we had one night at home before a flight to Denver to celebrate my cousin’s wedding. We got back to Madison late last night and have spent the day puttering around the house, getting caught up on laundry, grocery shopping, harvesting the season’s first tomatoes from the garden, and admiring just how much the hydrangeas have grown in the course of a week.
I always get a kick out of comparing views of our I always get a kick out of comparing views of our home today to the photos I took during our home inspection. (Swipe to see our main bedroom then!) While I knew the house had potential, it was hard to look past some of the owner’s “design” choices. Though, it looks like the room was destined to have a warm-toned quilt. 😂

P.S. @schoolhouse just released new colors of their popular Stillwater Floral Quilt!

And, for those interested, I’ve linked my bedroom items here: https://liketk.it/5iC8R

It also inadvertently became the weekend I made Dave eat a cheeseburger every day, between @redhotranchchicago, @eatmottst, and @smallcheval. There are worst ways to spend a weekend.

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together.
