Giveaway: Stella Valle

January 17, 2013 by jessica Leave a Comment

Military training isn’t the most conventional route to a career in fashion, but it works flawlessly for the sisters behind Stella Valle: Ashley Jung and Paige Dellavalle. Their surprising background inspires the designers to incorporate masculine elements in their work, but it’s always juxtaposed expertly by feminine refinement.

The standout pieces are from the “Nonnina” line. As the ladies mention on their blog, the Italian term of endearment for a grandmother inspired the Art Deco creations – and became a tribute to the strong women of our grandmothers’ era. Below, you’ll have the chance to win the beautiful Lillian necklace!

Discount! After entering the giveaway, mix an elderflower cocktail (this one, perhaps?) and shop Stella Valle’s collection. To sweeten the deal, they’re generously giving you a $25 discount through February 14, 2013. It’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new bauble just in time for Valentine’s Day. Bauble of the Week

January 6, 2013 by jessica Leave a Comment

Bring on the Art Deco jewels! With The Great Gatsby due to premiere this spring, I’m sure we’ll all welcome a bit of 1920s elegance into our jewelry box. My top pick is this cuff by Stella Valle, but the coordinating earrings are a close second.

Discount! All items on the site are 50% through January 10, 2013 with code CHEERSto2013.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
