WIN IT

August 21, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

This giveaway is way to good to be hidden at the end of yesterday’s post. It’s your chance to win $150 to spend on beautiful travel-inspired jewelry from KiraKira. Take a look around and let me know what you would choose. Would you pick multiple items to refresh your jewelry box or put it toward one incredible statement piece?

Personally, I’d go for the latter. I’m smitten with this chrysoprase and pink sapphire cocktail ring.

GIVEAWAY | $150 TO FLAT 128

July 23, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

Isn’t Flat 128 just the coziest little store imaginable? Located in New York City’s West Village, the British lifestyle boutique offers an array of jewelry and accessories from designers that are difficult to find this side of the pond. I was absolutely delighted to find gems from Clarice Price Thomas and equally giddy to discover new-to-me artisans like SMITH/GREY (these earrings are so good). Take a few minutes to learn more about Founder Elizabeth DuBois in yesterday’s “Behind the Baubles” post, then come back and scroll down for your opportunity to win a $150 gift card to spend on your own little piece of Great Britain.

Giveaway | Gerard Yosca Necklace

April 21, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

I hope you had a relaxing Easter weekend with enough candy to hold you over until next year. And there’s one more holiday surprise to brighten your week: two people will win a Gerard Yosca single bloom necklace!

I’ve been going on and on about how much I adore Gerard’s latest collection, inspired by an A. Quincy Jones home in L.A. Each piece is a large-scale statement, yet remains versatile and easy to wear. I even wore the stonebloom necklace in a trio of looks last week (one, two and three), proving that just one great piece can be enough to get you through the season—and I can’t wait to see how the winners style their necklaces!

Two readers will take home this perfect spring blossom in white or black. (The first person selected will have her choice of the two and the other will go to the second winner.) The giveaway is open to those with a United States mailing address. Good luck!

Now that the promise of warm weather is right around the corner, it’s time to break out the bold jewelry, starting with a pair of Emma McKinstry’s double rectangle earrings. Available in an array of colors like bright turquoise and fiery red, the earrings are versatile showstoppers that will get you through the season.

Giveaway: Chloe + Isabel Necklace

January 26, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

My favorites from Chloe + Isabel’s Valentine’s Day collection are the dainty sterling silver pieces: heart and arrow rings, mismatched earrings and a delicate arrow necklace. I’m particularly fond of the Cupid’s arrow. It’s romantic without being saccharine and makes for a lovely everyday piece long after Valentine’s Day is over.

And as a little Valentine’s gift for you, one lucky gal will win an arrow necklace of her own! Good luck!

A small moment of peace from the past weekend. I A small moment of peace from the past weekend.

I feel like I’ve been doomscrolling since the news broke of SCOTUS’ decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. My emotions run the gamut from sadness to frustration to unadulterated rage. I’m deeply disgusted by conservatives and evangelicals, but especially by liberals who supported Bernie Sanders and refused to vote for Hillary Clinton at such a crucial moment in our history. Did you know that 12% of Sanders’ primary election supporters voted for Trump in the general election? In Wisconsin alone, 51,000 of them voted for Trump — a state Trump would win by just 22,000 votes.

Your vote matters. It matters in national elections, statewide elections, and local elections. It’s crucial that Democrats organize as strategically as conservatives did and restore reproductive rights.

In the meantime, donate your time, talent, or treasure to help those facing an unwanted pregnancy. @thecut has a great list on their site with organizations to support in states likely to prohibit abortion. I’ve donated to @plannedparenthoodwi.
Reveal day is finally here! It’s been a long pro Reveal day is finally here! It’s been a long process that started back in April 2020 with a kitchen ceiling leak that was attributed to water leaking from our tub faucet and working its way through the floor and into the kitchen. Our bathroom was never anything to look at (before photos on the feed), but the leak really accelerated our plans for a full bathroom renovation when timelines — and budgets — allowed. It feels a bit surreal to have it done and I don’t think I’ll ever stop admiring it whenever I walk past!

Head to the blog today to read about two headaches that came at the tail end of our main bathroom remodel.

It wasn’t always easy to navigate the stressful moments, but the end result is worth it. I feel like I’m at a luxury hotel every time I shower! (And it sure beats showering with the spiders in our [basically unfinished] basement bathroom. It was like camping in our own home for the past six weeks — and I very much hate camping!)
