Bauble of the Week

If there’s an item of jewelry that epitomizes spring’s 1970s revival, it’s the candy-colored Plexiglas cuff by Valentino. It’s probably doesn’t come as a surprise that the psychedelic collection was inspired by the brand’s 1973 archive. Groovy! Of course, I wouldn’t spent over $600 on a plastic bracelet. I scoured eBay and found a similar vintage version for $135.

Bauble of the Week

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]T[/dropcap]he Monica Vinader bracelet I purchased on Black Friday renewed my love of fine jewelry. I used to feel that if you were spending such a large amount of money on silver, gold, and precious gems, it should be on a classic piece you’ll wear forever. But what’s the point of being so serious and, well, boring? Jewelry should be a joy to wear. I’m in love with these infinity rings by Astley Clarke. They come in an array of candy colors like blue topaz, amethyst, emerald, pink sapphire, and orange sapphire. They’re certainly investment pieces, but they’re a heck of a lot more fun than your standard-issue platinum and diamond eternity band.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]S[/dropcap]ometimes it’s nice to take a break from oversize statement pieces and reach for a daintier bauble, like these bracelets from Gerard Yosca’s “The Singular Bracelet” collection. They’re pretty enough to wear on their own, yet versatile for mixing and matching with other pieces. Best of all, the bracelets come in at an incredibly affordable price range of $45 to $80.

Julie Vos’ earrings make for the perfect gift this season. I’m particularly fond of the pearl and gemstone drop earrings. Each are topped with a gold beaded dome that adds an extra dose of holiday glam. You can also take 20% off these earrings (and everything else on the site, excluding sale merchandise) with code “bedknobsandbaubles.” The discount brings the pearl earrings down to just $76 and the gemstone pair to $124.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
