Helen Ficalora

There’s been a lot of talk about Helen Ficalora this week with Monday’s post and yesterday’s giveaway, but it’s for good reason. Helen is a pioneer of the initial pendant trend, bringing her fans personalized jewelry for over a decade. A customer can mix and match charms to create a piece that reflects her personality. There’s everything from letters to animals–the monkey is my favorite–yet even the most whimsical designs are understated for a timeless look. Charms are available in yellow, white, and rose gold with many also available in sterling silver.

Behind the Baubles // Three Jane NY

If there’s one jewelry brand that will make you want to slip on your fanciest heels and head out for cocktails, it’s Three Jane NY. The brand was developed by designer and former publicist Katie Schloss who specializes in whimsical designs (bottle opener bracelet, anyone?), Art Deco styles, and saturated color.

Behind the Baubles // Katie Jewelry Design

I’ll admit that I’m not the most spiritual person, but I can definitely appreciate it–and admire it–in people like Katie Scott. The Houston-based interior designer launched her brand in 2005, but it wasn’t until years of reflection and a commitment to spirituality that she launched her jewelry collection with the intent to bring more meaningful and symbolic jewelry to the marketplace. Of course her collection includes the cross, the Star of David, and the hamsa, but there are also more subtle designs that don’t immediately read as spiritual. Take this ring or cuff, for instance. The design looks just like lattice work, even though it’s made of crosses. There are also rosary-inspired pieces that are studded with metal dots and diamonds. For me, I love the starburst ring (what a statement!), the simple Katie band (the perfect everyday ring), and the Katie choker (sleek enough to layer with other pieces).

Behind the Baubles | Jet Set Candy

JetSetCandy1v3

After a six-month hiatus, “Behind the Baubles” is back and I couldn’t be more excited to reintroduce the series to you with my latest jewelry crush: Jet Set Candy. This is the ultimate jewelry-meets-travel collection with wearable keepsakes to commemorate your favorite destinations. The are darling rings, pendants, bracelets, and over 200 charms to choose from, ranging from luggage tags to hookahs to cocktail shakers. Founder Nicole Parker King, a world traveler herself, spared no details when creating these pint-sized souvenirs. Just look at this British candy charm with its brightly colored Smarties! My favorites are the Amsterdam pieces, but only because there isn’t a Brussels luggage tag with a teeny glass of beer!

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]G[/dropcap]ive me a good monogram and I am one happy camper, especially when it’s as beautiful as the personalized gold jewelry Stephanie creates for her collection: Letters by Zoe. Named after her first daughter, Letters by Zoe boasts timeless, understated jewelry that’s sure to become heirloom pieces in anyone’s collection. Each piece is handcrafted in Los Angeles with 14k yellow, white, and rose gold (and, in some cases, sterling silver). Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
