Five Under $55

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE

Happy Independence Day weekend! We’re keeping things pretty relaxed this weekend with afternoons at the pool and plenty of burgers, brats, and beer! That and plenty of sale shopping. Here are my favorites:

  • Bauble Bar – take 30% off sitewide with code RSJULY (ends 7/5). I’m all about this pair of gold fringe earrings and this stunning architectural cuff.
  • Charm & Chain – take 20% off sitewide with code FIREWORKS (ends 7/6). It’s a fantastic time to scoop up a piece from favorite designers such as ASHA, Gerard Yosca, or Lulu Frost.
  • Lulu Frost – take 20% off sitewide with code JULY4TH20. The Lulu Frost selection at Charm & Chain is limited. Head directly to the designer’s site to save on a wide selection of pieces. This necklace is high on my must-have list, along with a ring with a secret compartment, and semiprecious stone earrings.
  • DVF – take an additional 25% off all sale items with code JULY25 (ends 7/6). This dress would make for a pretty work piece.
  • J.Crew – take 40-60% off final sale with code LONGWEEKEND (ends 7/6). Final sale makes me nervous, so I usually beeline to the jewelry (always fits!) and beach cover ups (they still look good if you size up to be on the safe side).

  • A pair of statement hoops by Kenneth Jay Lane. For more aaffordable jewelry, check out the brand Shashi. I love the dainty rings, which are all $44 or less.
  • Thanks to J.Crew’s current promotion (30% off with code GOSHOPPING), these brushstroke shorts make it under the $55 threshold. They would look darling with this silky shell in orange (also under $55).
  • Have you seen the darling cocktail napkins Gray Malin designed in collaboration with Lettermade? In addition to the pineapple wine glasses I featured here, I’d like the pineapple cocktail napkins for my future bar cart.
  • Few things scream summer like an easy slip dress. All this one needs is a statement necklace (found on one of your summer travels, of course) and a pair of simple sandals.
  • This white structured bag is an absolute steal at $24. It’s not leather, of course, but that just makes it less upsetting if someone spills ketchup on it at a summer barbecue!

  • Isn’t this bucket bag darling? It’s a cost-conscious way to try the trend at just $36. It also comes in red and grey.
  • An easy pull-over top. (With my broken foot, all I want to do is wear things that are loose or have an elastic waist. These crutches are really hindering my style game.)
  • Canvas espadrilles. White probably isn’t the most practical, but they also come in red.
  • A nautical bracelet.
  • Linen shorts with a drawstring waist. Dave purchased these for me last weekend in the Twin Cities in “Aztec rust.” I love them. They’re easy to get on and off with my crutches and they still look cute when they’re a little wrinkled (because, you know, linen will do that). If you’re between sizes, go with the smaller one. They stretch a bit.

  • It took me awhile to embrace chambray, but there are so many pretty pieces this spring that I can’t help but get on board. This little tank top is one of my favorite budget buys ever. You can find it at Modcloth for $40 or Lori’s for a few dollars more.
  • Few things make me happier than elastic-waist shorts when it’s unbearably hot. Stock up on summery colors here for $49.50.
  • These sandals are basically the love child of the metallic Birkenstocks I featured yesterday and the sandals I recently ordered. They’re also a heck of a lot cheaper.
  • Edie Parker beach towels?! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this earlier! They’re just $29.
  • I’d actually use this Ted Baker cosmetic pouch to corral the items in my beach bag. There’s also a larger size for $50.

  • It’s a great time to stock up on J.Crew’s lightweight striped tees for spring. With code SALETREAT, the price is only $27.65.
  • How fun is the color combination on this scarf?! It also comes in pink with orange pom poms and black with turquoise.
  • It’s not always easy to find interesting jewelry at a great price point, but these understated ear jackets are gorgeous. They also come in rose gold.
  • I’m itching for a pair of Soludos espadrilles this summer. Has anyone tried them? Thoughts?
  • A classic faux leather crossbody bag in a wear-with-everything color.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
