Bauble of the Week

September 22, 2013 by jessica

image

l’ve been itching to treat myself to a new piece of jewelry. I thought about this Bauble Bar necklace, but decided the money would be better spent on a more expensive statement piece. This pair of Tory Burch earrings was a contender as was a Lulu Frost necklace. Then I saw this Tory Burch cuff. It’s from the spring 2014 collection and available for pre-order (shipping in December). It’s one of those pieces that I wouldn’t wear all the time, but I would treasure forever.

Loving Lately

September 18, 2013 by jessica

Lately, I’m loving:

  • Navy. Obviously. The moment I spotted the Julie Vos “Metro” ring, I knew it was going to be in constant rotation along with the minuscule stacking rings. They add interest without overshadowing the brilliant blue cocktail ring.
  • The opportunity to become a Certified Meeting Planner. It’s a pretty big deal in the industry. (Think of it as earning a masters degree in event planning.) I’m in for a lot of studying over the next year as I prep for the August 2014 exam, but I’m incredibly excited and interested to see how my on-the-job skills compare to industry standards. (Event planning isn’t what I went to school for. My degrees are in English and journalism with an emphasis on PR and advertising.) Let’s face it, it’ll also feel pretty awesome to update my email signature line to “Jessica Hamm, CMP.”
  • Fish-shaped soap on a rope because, well, why not?

Behind the Baubles: Margaret Elizabeth

September 17, 2013 by jessica

There’s a relaxed elegance to Meg Galligan’s designs, which makes her collection of colorful gemstone jewelry so appealing. But don’t be fooled by her carefree aesthetic. This is one savvy business woman. The entrepreneur launched Margaret Elizabeth while attending Boston College. (She even hosted a trunk show in her dorm room!) After working in an online advertising job with Google, Meg pursued her dream full time in 2011.

Outfitted

Last Tuesday, I hosted an executive-level networking event at the Air National Guard in an plane hangar. It was a lovely evening, except for the temperature: a humid 90 degrees in September. I was itching for cooler weather after that night, but it still came as a shock when I had to throw on a jacket last weekend. On another note, remember how I mentioned my love for Essie’s “After School Boy Blazer,” a deep navy polish that’s similar to the color of my Hermes bracelet and my car? Well, now it also matches my new Julie Vos ring. I should probably branch out soon.
