June 4, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

  • Celebrated my 31st birthday with the cutest daisy cupcake
  • Visited Louisville and stopped by Please & Thank You
  • Splurged on a Tory Burch scarf with the botanical print I’m obsessed with
  • Purchased a Gray Malin print, which is the first piece of “real” art Dave and I picked out together
  • Visited Churchill Downs
  • Enjoyed evening drinks at Garage Bar in Louisville with my birthday present from Dave
  • Discovered a fabulous pair of sandals at Kohl’s (c/o)
  • Stuck in traffic just outside our destination, which gave me enough time to snap a decent photo of the Kentucky state sign
  • Beat the 90-degree heat over cocktails at Proof on Main

My Instagram feed has become more colorful, which must mean spring is officially here. Here are a few of my favorite memories from April:

  • Won an adorable pajama set from Sleepy Jones
  • Enjoyed a colorful evening sky on our way back from Easter celebrations in Central Wisconsin
  • Picked up yet another bouquet of tulips
  • Booked a July trip to Belgium
  • Enjoyed a margarita-filled evening with Dave
  • Ate entirely too much candy
  • Stopped by the Badgers’ spring game, which was just an excuse to get out and enjoy the warm weather
  • Indulged in a few of my favorite things
  • Wore that Gerard Yosca necklace with everything

It’s pretty obvious that I’m anxious for warm weather, considering my Instagram is overrun with flowers and nautical stripes. What can I say? I know what I like. Here are a few of my favorite March moments:

  • Adding a pair of trendy pearl earrings to my collection
  • Purchasing a bouquet of tulips, my favorite flower
  • Wearing this Gerard Yosca necklace with just about everything
  • Springing for a gorgeous vintage cocktail ring
  • Working on an upcoming April collaboration with Gerard Yosca—there’s even a giveaway in it for you
  • Splurging on a pair of Tory Burch shoes that match almost everything in my closet…
  • …and loving how they look with this Emma McKinstry necklace
  • Swooning over a surprise gift from Meghna Designs
  • Arranging a vase full of daffodils

Mini Moments

March 3, 2014 by jessica Leave a Comment

It’s depressing to go through my photos and realize that we barely left the house in February, but it’s even more of a downer knowing that we were shut-ins in January too. Until it’s warm enough to leave the house, here’s another month of at-home highlights:

  • Making the most of a sick day in banana-print pjs
  • Purchased two pairs of printed flats for spring: stripes and banana leaves
  • Kept the cat company
  • Dressed up in a lovey-dovey print
  • Picked out a new lipstick
  • Wore mint and black
  • Added a pair of botanical-print shorts to my wardrobe after The Great Closet Cleanout
  • Splurged on a classic black satchel with a portion of my tax return (the rest is earmarked for our European vacation)
  • Celebrated Valentine’s Day in the best possible way: beer, pizza, and the prettiest bouquet of flowers

Obviously I didn’t leave the house much in January, thanks to the biting cold of the polar vortex. At this point, I think we all deserve an early spring! Here’s hoping the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow in a couple of days.

In January, I…

  • Wore this Chloe + Isabel arrow necklace (enter to win one here)
  • Dreamed of a tropical escape
  • Purchased my first bouquet of tulips of the season
  • Won a lovely polka dot clutch from Kayu that I can’t wait to wear with these Julie Vos earrings
  • Spent a lazy morning in bed with the cat
  • Found a pretty cocktail dress at Express of all places
  • Layered two of my favorite everyday rings from Karen Hsiang and Cynthia Jones
  • Braved the polar vortex in a pair of bright wellies from Joules
  • Opted for a summery mani and pedi

A small moment of peace from the past weekend. I A small moment of peace from the past weekend.

I feel like I’ve been doomscrolling since the news broke of SCOTUS’ decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. My emotions run the gamut from sadness to frustration to unadulterated rage. I’m deeply disgusted by conservatives and evangelicals, but especially by liberals who supported Bernie Sanders and refused to vote for Hillary Clinton at such a crucial moment in our history. Did you know that 12% of Sanders’ primary election supporters voted for Trump in the general election? In Wisconsin alone, 51,000 of them voted for Trump — a state Trump would win by just 22,000 votes.

Your vote matters. It matters in national elections, statewide elections, and local elections. It’s crucial that Democrats organize as strategically as conservatives did and restore reproductive rights.

In the meantime, donate your time, talent, or treasure to help those facing an unwanted pregnancy. @thecut has a great list on their site with organizations to support in states likely to prohibit abortion. I’ve donated to @plannedparenthoodwi.
Reveal day is finally here! It’s been a long pro Reveal day is finally here! It’s been a long process that started back in April 2020 with a kitchen ceiling leak that was attributed to water leaking from our tub faucet and working its way through the floor and into the kitchen. Our bathroom was never anything to look at (before photos on the feed), but the leak really accelerated our plans for a full bathroom renovation when timelines — and budgets — allowed. It feels a bit surreal to have it done and I don’t think I’ll ever stop admiring it whenever I walk past!

Head to the blog today to read about two headaches that came at the tail end of our main bathroom remodel.

I am just the happiest! I keep looking at this bat I am just the happiest! I keep looking at this bathroom and thinking how lucky we are that we were able to do this! It wasn’t always easy to navigate the stressful moments, but the end result is worth it. I feel like I’m at a luxury hotel every time I shower! (And it sure beats showering with the spiders in our [basically unfinished] basement bathroom. It was like camping in our own home for the past six weeks — and I very much hate camping!)

More photos to come!

The rest of the shower tile will be installed on Monday and then they’ll starting laying the floor tile. I can’t wait!
