I just love the texture of these straw flats.

December 9, 2024 by jessica Leave a Comment

Above: My latest bake from Dessert Person was the flourless chocolate wave cake. You can learn to make it on Claire Saffitz’s YouTube if you don’t want to spring for the book. Best of all, it’s gluten- and dairy-free, so it’s a solid option for catering to dietary restrictions during the holidays.

Jameela Jamil’s audition for The Good Place is a hilariously wild ride.

Mejuri’s newest earrings have a sculptural twist.

Edible glitter.

Martha Stewart’s entertaining tips from 1982.

Inside the world of competitive “tablescaping.”

How the Bonne Maman advent calendar became so popular.

Jewelry trends for 2025.

I just ordered this sweater to try on. I love the low v-neck.

15 winter cocktails.

Gift pick: East Fork’s signature mug. Not only is it beautiful, you’ll be supporting a company that gives back to its community. If you’re a first-time customer, you can take $20 by using this link or entering my name at checkout. Just make sure it’s entered just like this: Jessica Hamm

November 18, 2024 by jessica Leave a Comment

The rhinestone earrings I recently purchased (above) add the perfect touch of festive shimmer. Keep an eye on them as they’ve been going on sale frequently.

Just add “-AI” to your Google search to strip out the AI-generated information.

The best cranberry sauce is the simple one.

Wisconsinites: there’s an old fashioned cocktail Christmas ornament! Let’s pretend it’s brandy.

A travel guide that’s making me want to return to Copenhagen.

This cabin tour makes a solid case for wood paneling.

Merriam-Webster has a fun tool that allows you to search by year to discover which words and phrases were first used in print.

Our Friendsgiving often turns into a “Sidesgiving” since no one really wants to take on a main course (and we have so many different dietary preferences and restrictions that a main dish is difficult to nail down). Now there’s a new trend emerging: “Dipsgiving.”

Where to go in 2025.

The power of annual traditions.

This week’s gift pick: a portable charger that takes up minimal space. It’s a great stocking stuffer!

Hilarious reasons to stay single from a Victorian-era magazine.

Freshen up your Thanksgiving table with these picks. (While I’m not hosting this year, I couldn’t resist the owl salt and pepper shakers to keep on hand.)

I made coconut braised beef last week and it was so good. I’m still thinking about it a week later!

All of the essentials for a well-stocked bar.

This week’s gift pick: a trio of flower-shaped candlestick holders. If those are too pricey, browse eBay for vintage brass ones like this.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
