1 Necklace, 3 Ways | Look 2

The best sartorial dollar you can spend is on a statement piece that goes with everything. I’ve been wearing this Gerard Yosca necklace almost exclusively since I received it, so three outfits featuring the bauble this week wasn’t much of a challenge! Today, I strayed away from Monday’s mod attire in favor of something classic and feminine. A full skirt can become saccharine awfully quickly, but the necklace’s graphic flowers and a bright crossbody bag keep the look from being too prim.

I’m such a proponent of investing in quality accessories that you’ll wear over and over again—and I have no doubt that, in time, the cost per wear of that statement splurge will be lower than a cheaper alternative. Gerard Yosca’s latest collection is full of these versatile statement pieces, so when the team challenged me to style one necklace three ways this week, I jumped at the chance. First up, a mod shift dress that matches the mood of the black and white necklace. I’ve been wearing this to work quite a bit over the last few weeks (sadly, with tights), but it’s just as fun for weekend wear with pointy black flats.

As much as I love the nipped-in silhouettes of the 1950s, the ’60s are by far my favorite fashion decade—and my new shoes only fuel the obsession. It didn’t take me long to pair them with a ’60s-inspired ensemble that I intend to wear repeatedly this season.

As you’d expect, the accessories are my favorite part of the outfit. The block-heeled shoe is the perfect complement to a short hemline and this Emma McKinstry necklace lends a carefree touch to an outfit that otherwise risks being too prim. (The quality of the necklace is great. Make sure to you enter to win a pair of Emma’s best-selling double rectangle earrings here.)

Happy Valentine’s Day! To celebrate, I’m wearing one of my biggest sartorial loves: this Erin Fetherston dress. There aren’t too many opportunities to wear a lip-print dress, so I’m taking full advantage of the holiday. (On a related note, did you see this sweater and this dress from Erin’s fall/winter collection? Need.)

Something I don’t love? Snow. At this point, the only thing it’s good for is taking photos. (Before you ask, my feet really weren’t that cold. Growing up in Wisconsin gives you an amazing tolerance for chilly weather. Besides, it was a heat wave of 15 degrees above zero.)

Even though I’ve already shed some of the holiday weight, this loose dress is still the only thing that feels comfortable. It’s just a bonus that there are cats printed all over it … which some people have mistaken for skulls. I don’t see it, but now it’s basically the dress version of a Rorschach test. Which do you see?

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
