I wasn’t going to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but…

July 13, 2021 by jessica Leave a Comment

The novelty of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has worn off. I was planning to sit this one out entirely, but curiosity got the better of me when I decided to check out the home section … which then turned into browsing every single page of the sale. And I’ll be frank, there’s not much worth buying, especially those Barefoot Dreams cardigans and throws. You’ve spent an entire year in quarantine wearing loungewear. It’s time to stop doing that to yourself.

The sale opens to the public on July 28 and there’s a decent chance my favorites will sell out by then. Which is completely fine, since I don’t actually need any of these things, but it’s still fun to window shop. Here’s what I have my eye on:

  1. My favorite face lotion. It’s a good time to buy any of your skincare or makeup staples since you know you’ll use it anyway.
  2. A set of silicone utensils.
  3. Statement earrings. The black pair is the best.
  4. A bathmat that comes in three colors. (The grey one would work best with our upcoming bathroom remodel.)
  5. Reusable storage bags.
  6. This cult-favorite bra in charcoal.
  7. A striped Turkish towel.
  8. A black dress with a flattering, classic shape.

In the Know

Wendy Mink has been a sponsor of my blog for a really long time, even before I made the switch over to this new domain. Every gem I’ve received from the company is more stunning than the last and subject to countless compliments from strangers. I’ll admit that I’m incredibly envious of the women who live in New York and are able to attend the Wendy Mink sample sale this weekend. There will be jewelry from current and previous seasons for up to 70% off (and refreshments!).

When:
Friday, November 30: 12 – 7 p.m.
Saturday, December 1: 12 – 7 p.m.
Sunday, December 2: 12 – 6 p.m.

Where:
Wendy Mink Jewelry
72 Orchard Street, between Broome and Grand
New York, NY 10002
(212) 260-5298

Online:
If you’re miles away like me, you can take 20% off online through Sunday with code the “HOLIDAY” at checkout. Some of the sample items should be online by this weekend. (Although, may I suggest any of the earrings above? I received the amethyst pair this week. They’re an absolute dream and a steal at just $80 with the discount!)

The holiday season is the perfect time to treat yourself, especially since it’s the only guarantee that you’ll love what’s under the tree! Astley Clarke, one of my favorite jewelry brands, is having a pre-holiday sale to make sure you get something from your wish list this year.

Some of my favorites are featured above: a ruby ring (an ultra splurge that I can only dream about), a pair of amazonite earrings and gemstone rings.

The Details: Take 20% off your purchase at Astley Clarke through Tuesday, November 20th.

Code: WISH20

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
