Walk in the Park

ASOS Broderie Sundress with Strappy Back

Memorial Day (and, ahem, my birthday weekend) marks the unofficial start of summer. It often feels as if I’m constantly counting down to my favorite season so that I can break out my arsenal of summer dresses. But can you really fault me for that? Lightweight dresses are the perfect canvas for layering jewelry like these rings from www.MoonstoneShop.com. I’ve been a fan of moonstone for as long as I can remember, but it was solidified when I visited Moonstone Beach in California years ago and spent well over an hour sifting through stones on the beach to find the iridescent beauties. I had intended to have the stones I found polished and set in a ring, but let’s be honest, going straight to the source for genuine moonstone jewelry is so much easier! The shop carries an array of petite rings that are perfect for layering a few statement-making pieces to sprinkle into your collection. You can also find moonstone earrings, pendants, and bracelets.

Spring Casual

White Tunic Sweater & Denim Shorts :: Bedknobs & Baubles

I’ve had this outfit on repeat lately. It’s such an easy ensemble to slip on and feel pulled together without sacrificing comfort, and the tunic sweater is the perfect spring-to-summer transitional piece when the weather just isn’t warm enough for a flimsy top. (It also looks cute with cropped pants for the office.) I bought this one late last summer from J.Crew, but LOFT has a few alternatives that I like even more: this one comes in lavender and heather grey, this one has cute ties at the sides and comes in tomato and gold, and I’m all about the variegated turquoise stripes in this one.

My Shopbop Sale Find

April 14, 2017 by jessica 2 Comments

Soludos Knotted Slide Sandals

Oh, did you happen to hear that there’s a Shopbop sale happening right now? 😉 Of course you did, given that everyone is talking about it this week. I didn’t want to succumb to the pressure to highlight the same sale and the same items as everyone else, but then I placed my own purchase for these sandals and I couldn’t let the opportunity for you to score them on sale go unannounced. I had them pinned to my secret “stuff I’ll probably buy in the future” Pinterest board for a few weeks and figured I’d probably buy them eventually, so why not take advantage of the discount? I’m in love, you guys! The leather is so soft that they feel like slippers! (Admittedly, the leather is a little squeaky right now, but I’m going to hit it with some leather conditioner later today ease some of the friction.)

Soludos, how do you manage to make such comfortable summer shoes?!

And, of course, that got me revisiting the sale this morning to find other items I would have purchased had I not been on the hunt for a house. (Sidebar: we put an offer on a house earlier this week — over the listing price, again — and lost out on it. I’m still heartbroken.) Here’s what captured my fancy:

  • These blue and white beaded earrings that I’ve waxed poetic about before.
  • A romper with a fresh citrus print.
  • This woven bag for the confetti-inspired handle alone.
  • The bold irises printed on this flirty dress.
  • A fun iPhone case for summer.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
