When I was getting dressed on Saturday, Dave asked if I really wanted to take outfit photos of this dress, an item I’ve worn on the blog a couple of times before. Yes, I did. As bloggers, we put too much pressure on ourselves to post new items each week. Not only is it an unrealistic–and financially irresponsible–expectation, it’s boring. I’d much rather see how bloggers rework their favorites to keep them in rotation. So, in that spirit, here’s one of my favorite summer dresses. I love the ease of a loose shift dress, especially with layered jewelry to keep things interesting.

The ring and bracelet are borrowed from Rocksbox, a jewelry subscription service that allows you to try out pieces at your leisure. Once you’re finished, you can purchase your favorites at a discounted rate or swap them out for a new set. Each Rocksbox is $19, but you can get your first month free with code bedknobsandbaublesxoxo. It’s a fun way to try new styles and designers without the investment.

Thanks for saying that, because blogging does come with a lot of “I’ve only worn the once” pressure. You look great!

I completely agree with you, and good for you for restyling your favorite piece. You look amazing and I am obsessed with that ring!

Agreed! Why do we have to pretend like we don’t wear the same things over and over? I think I’ve posted exact outfit duplicates on mine before (except maybe shoes, haha)
Love that dress, you have the best collection of little summer dresses 🙂

I am so with you! There is a lot of pressure to always have something new, but that’s just not realistic. Real people re-wear things! And this dress is SO worth re-wearing. Thanks for being real!

I love the perforations in that bag! Also sometimes wearing old stuff in a new way is just as exciting, it also inspires me to re-wear them all over again!

Preach, girl! Though, I’ve noticed that my boyfriend whizzes through outfit photos when he recognizes something I’ve worn for photos before. “But why do we need photos of that? You already got pictures of it!” Lol. He doesn’t understand that most things have a totally different vibe when you rewear them in a new outfit!

Sometimes my photographers will ask me things like “haven’t we taken enough photos of that bag or those shoes” and my response is always, I act like every post could possibly be seen by someone who has never been to my blog before. Which it could. And also, I’m with you, sometimes it is far more interesting to see all the ways a piece can be reworked than always seeing something new.

of course it’s also really fun to shop for new stuff, but that is neither here nor there.

I love your dress! Me too! I’d much rather see bloggers who dress realistically, because it gives us inspiration about working with pieces that we already own rather than buying new items all the time. I love how you kept your look simple but chic!

Everyone we met in Philly apologized for their gruff nature, despite no one actually living up to that stereotype. 😂

It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. We flew out to Philadelphia last Friday for a few days of exploring. It was our first time in the City of Brotherly Love and we loved every minute of it from the architecture to the restaurants, and most of all: the welcoming and friendly people. After that, we had one night at home before a flight to Denver to celebrate my cousin’s wedding. We got back to Madison late last night and have spent the day puttering around the house, getting caught up on laundry, grocery shopping, harvesting the season’s first tomatoes from the garden, and admiring just how much the hydrangeas have grown in the course of a week.
I always get a kick out of comparing views of our I always get a kick out of comparing views of our home today to the photos I took during our home inspection. (Swipe to see our main bedroom then!) While I knew the house had potential, it was hard to look past some of the owner’s “design” choices. Though, it looks like the room was destined to have a warm-toned quilt. 😂

P.S. @schoolhouse just released new colors of their popular Stillwater Floral Quilt!

It also inadvertently became the weekend I made Dave eat a cheeseburger every day, between @redhotranchchicago, @eatmottst, and @smallcheval. There are worst ways to spend a weekend.

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together.
