Baubles on a Budget: Under $75

April 5, 2017 by jessica

Baubles on a Budget: Under $75 :: Bedknobs & Baubles

I started “Baubles on a Budget” because there are so many pieces of inexpensive jewelry that, well, look cheap. But that’s not always the case. It takes a fair amount of time to sift through pieces online to find costume jewelry that looks more expensive than it actually is. I know that setting the cap at $75 might even be too expensive for many budgets, especially if you’re not as heart-eyed for jewelry as I am, so I’ll always try to include a range of price points in this monthly roundup. You’ll also notice that I typically stay away from jewelry that’s overly trendy. Those pieces are unlikely to get much love after one season and I believe that anything you buy — budget or not — should be something you’ll want to wear for more than one season. With that in mind, here are the wallet-friendly gems to add to your collection this month:

1. J.Crew Beaded Tassel Earrings, $65* | 2. Lele Sadoughi Solstice Earrings, $55 (on sale!) | 3. Elizabeth and James Bea Ring, $49 (on sale!) | 4. Serefina Fringe Drape Earrings, $66* | 5. Madewell Beaded Charm Necklace, $38 | 6. Bauble Bar Vida Crispin Drops, $34 | 7. Tuckernuck Petite Mixed Lantern Earrings, $48 | 8. Jenny Bird Ariel Earrings, $65* | 9. Rebecca Minkoff Palm Tassel Hoop Earrings, $68 | 10. Meg Carter Pearl Blossom Stud Earrings, $65 | 11. Noir Jewelry Linear Drop Earrings, $56

*My top three!

Behind the Baubles: Jenny Bird

Behind the Baubles: Jenny Bird :: Bedknobs & Baubles

Canada-based designer Jenny Bird is one of my favorite jewelers right now. Her sleek, modern aesthetic seamlessly mixes gold and silver to create eye-catching statement pieces. And if you’re not already familiar with the brand, you’ll be shocked by how affordable her pieces are. Take this necklace for example. That kind of attention to detail and quality in such a large piece is unheard of at $145 at most retailers. Jenny sums it up best:

I founded my line as an extension of myself; rooted in an innate desire to build something. I am a self-taught designer, and, as it turns out, it’s the most intuitive, effortless process that I have ever known. I am committed to a personal philosophy: the market does not need more soulless, short-lived fashion jewelry, nor does it need over-priced plated pieces. Each piece I design is deeply inspired and well thought-out;  produced in the highest quality, and sold at a fair price.

Not only does her approach to creating beautiful, accessible pieces earn my respect, it earns my total fangirl approach to her brand. My collection includes these major statement earrings, this pair that has incredible movement, and this minimal choker. Up next? I’ve got my eye on this pair of oversize studs in oxidized brass. Don’t they just look like the perfect accent piece for summer’s bohemian-inspired dresses?

Behind the Baubles: Jillian Bremer of Sweet & Spark

Jillian Bremer and I have been Instagram buds for awhile and I’m embarrassed to say that I’m just now introducing you to the beauty and brains behind the vintage jewelry treasure trove that is Sweet & Spark. The San Francisco-based entreperneur started Sweet & Spark back in 2012 with her father while she was between jobs. Her father, Howard, had always had an appreciation for timeless, vintage pieces, which inspired Jillian to begin hunting for jewelry that has stood the test of time. Soon after, Sweet & Spark was born. The online shop is a testament to her passion for vintage jewelry where a carefully curated selection of the best and most unique baubles awaits. Read on to learn more about Jillian!

J.Crew Floral Chandelier Earrings

While my new favorite pair of earrings may be sold out, you can still snag 30% off statement-making earrings at J.Crew like these beauties. If oversize earrings aren’t your thing, how about this gorgeous necklace? Pair it with a simple shift dress for a holiday-ready ensemble.
