When I was getting dressed on Saturday, Dave asked if I really wanted to take outfit photos of this dress, an item I’ve worn on the blog a couple of times before. Yes, I did. As bloggers, we put too much pressure on ourselves to post new items each week. Not only is it an unrealistic–and financially irresponsible–expectation, it’s boring. I’d much rather see how bloggers rework their favorites to keep them in rotation. So, in that spirit, here’s one of my favorite summer dresses. I love the ease of a loose shift dress, especially with layered jewelry to keep things interesting.

The ring and bracelet are borrowed from Rocksbox, a jewelry subscription service that allows you to try out pieces at your leisure. Once you’re finished, you can purchase your favorites at a discounted rate or swap them out for a new set. Each Rocksbox is $19, but you can get your first month free with code bedknobsandbaublesxoxo. It’s a fun way to try new styles and designers without the investment.

Bauble of the Week

I’ve been a little bored with Kate Spade lately, but this layered necklace revived my love for the whimsical brand. The movement of the feathered fringe is a sophisticated take on this season’s flamingo items.

Bauble of the Week

Gripoix is a new-to-me French jewelry brand that was founded in 1868 Augustine Gripoix. Instead of using gemstones, colored glass is set into intricate metalwork. This season’s designs, now available for pre-order, are heavily influenced by the Art Deco period. These hoop earrings are my favorite of the collection, but these are a close second.

Baublerella Bling Brush Review

April 28, 2015 by jessica 9 Comments

BlingBrush03

As often as I talk about jewelry and choosing pieces with longevity, I rarely talk about keeping your collection pristine. Wearing your favorites is usually enough to keep tarnish at bay, but it doesn’t do anything for the soap residue and dust particles that can make jewelry lose its luster. Enter the Bling Brush by Baublerella.

BlingBrush02

The Bling Brush is an all-natural jewelry cleanser that comes in a mascara-size tube. The convenient size makes it easy to tote on vacation or tuck into a handbag. It also makes a perfect gift for a newly engaged gal obsessed with keeping the sparkle in her stone.

BlingBrush01

Simply twist the bottom of the tube to dispense the cleaner and get to work. It’s safe to use on both fine and costume gems.

BlingBrush04

To put the Bling Brush to the test, I sifted through my jewelry box for the most tarnished piece and turned up this pair of amethyst and diamond earrings. (I’m actually embarrassed to admit that I haven’t worn these in awhile. They were a gift from my parents that took a backseat to oversize costume gems in recent years.)

BlingBrush05

It didn’t take long to erase years of buildup with a few quick swipes of the Bling Brush. After wiping the excess jewelry cleanser away with a soft cloth, the earrings looked new.

BlingBrush06

Bottom Line: Love it. It’s much more convenient–and chic–than using those cleansing tubs. It is on the pricier side, setting you back $16 plus $5 shipping, but the portability is worth it. Baublerella also makes a cleansing glove for precious metals, which comes in at $12.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
