Loft Swing Anorak

My NCAA bracket was a mess after the tournament’s first weekend, but I was somewhat comforted by Wisconsin’s pair of wins that landed them in the Sweet Sixteen. After their frustrating loss on Friday, I threw in the bracket on the rest of the college basketball season and turned my attention to my latest sartorial win: this adorable swing anorak coat from LOFT. As I mentioned earlier, I had been on the lookout for a spring coat that I could bring on our trip. (In ten short days! Holy moly!) I tried couple of trench coats (this and this) and wasn’t keen on either one of them. The fits weren’t great on me and I didn’t love the style enough to keep trying different trench coats, so I switched gears and started looking at anoraks when I came across this swing style from LOFT. It has a sueded finish and is lined with a knit jersey material. I love the youthful swing silhouette that allows for plenty of room at the hips. It doesn’t look sloppy, though, thanks to the cinched back waist that can be adjusted with a drawstring inside.

Top Trend :: Tassel Sandals

Flat Tassel Sandals for Women

Tassel-embellished sandals are my favorite trend for the upcoming season and I’ve been on the hunt for my own pair. I gave these a whirl and they were beautiful in person, but they didn’t fit my foot correctly. The top band was just a tad too snug, so my foot couldn’t slide up further, leaving too much room in front of my toes and not enough room for my heel. Oh well, as you can see above, there are plenty of gorgeous pairs to choose from!

ONE (only $48!) | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX | SEVEN | EIGHT | NINE | TEN

Also Worth Noting:

  • House of Fraser has a darling selection of dresses and four-day delivery to the U.S. (free with a £120 purchase). I fell in love with this one when I was browsing the site and love how it’s styled with a pair of sneakers.
  • A mini pineapple pitcher that’s begging for fresh blooms.
  • Another Kate Spade Surprise Sale has started! I’m loving these versatile earrings with a pink semiprecious stone (it’s two earrings in one set!) and this vibrant red purse.
  • If you are a Banana Republic card holder, you can shop the upcoming sale before anyone else. Take 40% off your purchase with code BRSPRING. Per usual, the discount is not applicable to  BR Picks, BR Monogram Collection, 100% Cashmere, leather apparel, designer collections & collaborations, and third party branded merchandise. I’ll admit that I’m a little irked by that. The only items I’m daydreaming about from the brand are this tiered ruffle dress and this tangerine one — both BR picks.
  • Save up to 80% at Tibi’s online sample sale.
  • DVF has launched her Friends and Family sale with 25% off with code FRIENDS25. New arrivals are excluded from the promotion, but it looks like it applies to sale items to make your discount even steeper. If I were made of money, I’d totally spring for this.
  • LOFT has 30% off of nearly everything. I bought — and love — this navy swing anorak. There’s a drawstring inside that you can cinch to get it more shape.

Madewell Gingham Dress, Redux

March 16, 2016 by jessica 5 Comments

Madewell Gingham Dress

This dress is definitely growing on me. I wore it for the second time last weekend (here’s the first round) for a rainy Sunday of visiting open houses (including the prettiest home from the late 1800s that we would have considered if it wasn’t so far away from Madison). The weather was terrible and only one photo made the cut, but sometimes that’s all you need!

Dress: Madewell “Courier” Buffalo Check Shirtdress (also here and here)
Jacket: Target
Purse: Rebecca Minkoff “Mini Affair” (the blue one is half price)
Shoes: Louise et Cie (similar)
Sunglasses: Karen Walker “Number One”
Rings: Monica Vinader, c/o Julie Vos
Lips: Stila “Betsey”
Nails: YSL “Day Bloomer”

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
