Cold Shoulder

I wasn’t kidding when I said I was wearing this Gerard Yosca pendant nonstop. It has already become my favorite piece to mix and match with my new summer staples, like the chambray dress I picked up at Express. It’s already sold out, which is a bummer because it’s a pretty solid knockoff of the AG Jeans x Alexa Chung “Honey” dress from earlier this season. The only drawback, as you can see, is that it gets awfully wrinkly! It was perfect when we left the house, but looked like this after 15 minutes in the car. Oh well. In other news, I fractured my foot today. My foot fell asleep while I was working on this post. I needed to start getting ready for work and tried to walk on it. I came down the wrong way, heard a terrible popping noise, and collapsed in excruciating pain. The Urgent Care doctor said it’s a fracture at the base of my little toe, but I still need to go to orthopedics for a follow-up appointment. I’m in a plastic boot/cast and can’t put weight on it. It sucks. On the bright side, who’s up for an outfit photo with a cast and crutches?! 😉 Seriously, though, if anyone has tips on using crutches, I’d love to hear them. I opted to sit on a flight of stairs and scoot up rather than use them. It’s going to be a long month.

Bon Voyage

We’re leaving tomorrow for a Memorial Day weekend road trip to Cincinnati! I’ve never been to Ohio, so I’m eager to check another state off my list. We’ve found dozens of bars to visit and restaurants to try. (Although, I’m not too sure about the area’s beloved Cincinnati chili.) We’ll play the rest by ear and see what we stumble across. Playing Favorites

When I was getting dressed on Saturday, Dave asked if I really wanted to take outfit photos of this dress, an item I’ve worn on the blog a couple of times before. Yes, I did. As bloggers, we put too much pressure on ourselves to post new items each week. Not only is it an unrealistic–and financially irresponsible–expectation, it’s boring. I’d much rather see how bloggers rework their favorites to keep them in rotation. So, in that spirit, here’s one of my favorite summer dresses. I love the ease of a loose shift dress, especially with layered jewelry to keep things interesting.

Friday Five Under $55

It took me awhile to embrace chambray, but there are so many pretty pieces this spring that I can’t help but get on board. This little tank top is one of my favorite budget buys ever. You can find it at Modcloth for $40 or Lori’s for a few dollars more.
Few things make me happier than elastic-waist shorts when it’s unbearably hot. Stock up on summery colors here for $49.50.
These sandals are basically the love child of the metallic Birkenstocks I featured yesterday and the sandals I recently ordered. They’re also a heck of a lot cheaper.
Edie Parker beach towels?! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this earlier! They’re just $29.
I’d actually use this Ted Baker cosmetic pouch to corral the items in my beach bag. There’s also a larger size for $50.

Style Spotlight: Spring Pajamas

We’re in for a stormy weekend ahead of us, which makes spending the day in pajamas awfully tempting. (Brunch, mimosas, and Mario Kart…what’s not to love?) I usually reach for these or these, yet I’m yearning for a spring upgrade. I haven’t found the right pair just yet, but I did come across five appealing options no matter your p.j. personality.

A crisp cotton nightshirt with contrast piping is a menswear classic. Wear your sexiest underwear–or none at all–for a sexy surprise.

Lace babydolls and matching panties run the risk of looking outdated and campy. That’s not the case when you add hot pink and fluorescent orange to the mix.
