I hope your day is spent shirking responsibility and enjoying every last moment of summer’s unofficial end! You can follow our Labor Day adventures in D.C. on Instagram or Snapchat (@bedknobsbaubles). See you in a few days!
Packing List: Santorini
The negative media spotlight on Greece hasn’t curbed my desire to visit Santorini and that’s probably for the best, given that the country relies heavily on tourist dollars. It’s basically my duty as an upstanding global citizen to book a trip, right?
Sadly, I don’t have plans to jet set to the Aegean Sea (unlike Fran!), but that’s not stopping me from packing my fantasy suitcase. Now, before you say anything, I know. Blue and white for Santorini? Groundbreaking. I can’t help it, though, the classic color scheme makes for a versatile capsule wardrobe and just imagine how pretty blue dresses (like these) will look in photos!

Summer Bucket List
Summer always seems to fly by and come September, I’m left wondering how I managed to squander the nicest months of the year. No more! Here’s our 2015 list of summer must-dos:
- Visit two new cities. (Cincinnati is already on the books for this weekend.)
- Play hooky for an entire midweek day to lounge at the pool…
- …and leave work a few hours early at least once a month in favor of pool time.
- Spend a day at the waterpark.
- Go to to a drive-in theater.
- Bike to a brewery or bar. (This one is going to take some practice. I haven’t been on a bike more than once in the last two years! I’d actually like to get in the habit of going on weekly bike rides with Dave after work.)
- Enjoy an evening at the Memorial Union Terrace.
- Watch the fireworks.
- Try five new-to-us restaurants and/or bars.
- Plan (and hopefully book) another trip to Europe. (This isn’t summer-specific, but I’d like to reserve something since the exchange rate is so low.)
- Head to a beer fest.
- Play mini golf.
- Spend a weekend in Milwaukee.
- Go to a baseball game.
- Plant an herb garden on our balcony (or, at the very least, something green).
- Eat cotton candy.
- Buy fresh produce at the farmers’ market at least once a month.
- Ride on a Ferris wheel.
- Visit my parents in northern Wisconsin.
Beachy
This tunic is by far the best pre-vacation purchase I’ve ever made. Not only did I wear it to the beach every day, it looks cute half-tucked into a pair of shorts–a relief since we’re a couple of months away from pool weather in Wisconsin. Go down one size if you’re lucky enough to find one online when there’s a return. (I’m wearing a small.)
While we were in Fort Lauderdale, we stayed at Snooze. It’s a renovated mid-century motel located across the street from the beach. It also has the cutest rooftop patio, where we took these photos. We didn’t spend a lot of time on the roof, since it’s only open during the motel’s daytime office hours, but it was a lovely spot to enjoy our morning coffee before heading out for the day.

Bon Voyage
And we’re off! Dave and I are headed to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a week of beachside lounging. We also have plans to visit Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Lauderdale by the Sea, and Hollywood. (Phew!) If you have any recommendations, please share them on Instagram or Twitter! (Seriously, any hidden gems for vintage or thrift shopping in Palm Beach would be a dream!) I’m planning to steer clear of the blog while we’re away, but you can always see what we’re up to on Instagram or Snapchat (find me at bedknobsbaubles).
