Review: Plum Pretty Sugar Pajamas

I’ve been looking for a pair of menswear-inspired pajamas and while I like pinstripes and plaids, I didn’t want a menswear-inspired pattern. I remembered seeing mentions of Plum Pretty Sugar on various blogs and found a sleepwear set that seemed to fit the bill. There’s a surprising lack of reviews on Plum Pretty Sugar products, so here are my thoughts:

  • I adore the feminine, vintage design.
  • It’s made of soft, crisp cotton that feels like a set of well-worn sheets.
  • Great attention to detail with piping along the edges and mother of pearl buttons.(Two extras are included.)
  • Pay attention to the size chart as the shortie set runs smaller than other items. It’s too bad that you can’t order the top and bottom in different sizes. I’m a size smaller on top and, as expected, the pajama shirt is looser than it needs to be.
  • Shipping was $7.50. It seems high for an item that came in an oversize envelope and weighs next to nothing.
  • Even though I followed the laundering instructions, the shorts shrunk along the banded hem. They’re now tighter at the hem than the rear and thighs causing them to ride up awkwardly. I wore them to bed last night to see if they’d stretch out to their original shape, but no luck.

Bottom Line: I’d consider another pair (these), but would line dry them. I’m pretty disappointed that the shorts shrunk so much.

I’m amazed by what Bacon will put up with.

Outfitted

Wedding season is wrapping up with one more celebration in the Twin Cities next weekend. Since a new dress seems frivolous, I’ve been playing around with a few options in my existing wardrobe. This pink drop-waist dress is a serious contender, especially when paired with a lime necklace from Brighthouse Baubles. I’ve always been a fan of a preppy pink and green color combo.

Loving Lately

Lately, I’m loving:

  • A pair of cigarette pants with bow-topped heels. I don’t particularly like pants, but I do like this pair from Banana Republic. The ankle length is ’50s chic and they don’t get baggy throughout the day. (Saggy rear ends are the worst.) I’m hoping BR makes a white pair for spring.
  • This fox coffee mug. I’ve used Google Image Search to locate the original – with fingers crossed that it was available for sale – to no avail. Any ideas where it’s from? I need it in my life.
  • I’d like to purchase a new coffee table. Ours has seen better days and it’s not really my aesthetic. I’d love something like this. Dings and stains will only make it look better over the years.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
