Friday Five Under $55

April 10, 2015 by jessica 5 Comments

Find-Under-$55-04102015

I don’t know about you, but I’ve already managed to blow my budget this month. Thank goodness for a few great deals this weekend:

  • This boho lace top from LOFT comes in at $49.50 and has the prettiest peekaboo eyelet detail around the waist.
  • A perforated tote ($25) in cream is perfect for work this spring.
  • I’m cheating a little bit with this pair of linen crossover shorts from J.Crew. Technically the price is $59.50, but you can snag them for 25% off through April 14 with code SHOPNOW.
  • These drop earrings from Kenneth Jay Lane are stunning. I love the light turquoise blue. (And, of course, they’re sold out now. Try these laid back chandeliers instead.)
  • I tend to shy away from faux leather shoes, but these chic gold slides are worth trying for $13. They also come in rose gold.

The Coveted

April 9, 2015 by jessica 12 Comments

CurrentlyCoveting-040915

This week, I’m smitten with:

  • Floral sunglasses. These are such a ridiculous splurge, but they’d be so fun to wear all summer. Here’s a low-cost alternative.
  • Lulu Frost’s Friends & Family sale! Take 20% off sitewide, starting with these earrings. No coupon code needed. The discount is taken at checkout.
  • A ruffled hem that makes me wish I could wear cropped tops.
  • Essie’s perfect polish set for spring weddings.
  • A vibrant turquoise romper.
  • One of my purchases from the Shopbop Friends & Family sale, which runs through the end of today: a pretty pair of Loeffler Randall “Amelia” sandals. You know I prefer wearing flats, but sometimes a girl just needs a pretty pair of heels. There are other colors available at Piperlime. They’re not on sale right now, but I’m sure they’ll be on promotion eventually with Piperlime’s upcoming closure.
  • Classic chambray stripes.
  • And my other Shopbop purchase: a stunning Kenneth Jay Lane necklace. It’s scheduled to arrive today, just in time to head into my suitcase for next week’s vacation.

TOP TEN

I’ve been pretty sick over the last couple of days (which included a trip to Urgent Care with an asthma attack my inhaler couldn’t handle). It’s been rough, but it has given me a chance to scour the Shopbop website to find the prettiest pieces for summer:

  1. This set of pouches from Furla. Use them to organize your tote bag or use the large one as a clutch.
  2. A flirty DVF romper. There’s no risk of Marilyn Monroe moments in something this practical.
  3. A Rory Beca dress that’s exclusive to Shopbop.
  4. A breezy white dress. This one is from Club Monaco.
  5. Tassel earrings (a classic!) from the one and only Oscar de la Renta.
  6. Soludos espadrilles. I can’t decide between solids or stripes. (They’re also a steal with most styles coming in at under $70.)
  7. Geometric sunglasses. They’re both playful and practical for summer.
  8. A white bucket bag. I can’t get this one from Rebecca Minkoff of my mind. There’s also a dreamy Furla version.
  9. Summery statement earrings.
  10. A beach dress with an irresistible lemon print (another Shopbop exclusive).

Petals & Pleats

April 6, 2015 by jessica 11 Comments

AprilOutfit1-v2jpg

I bought this dress a few months ago with the intent to wear it during next week’s Florida vacation, but it made an early debut when the mercury rose to 76 degrees. The loose silhouette is perfect for hot days…even if you’re at risk of a Marilyn Monroe moment when the wind picks up! I especially like how the petals of this Gerard Yosca necklace perfectly mimic the pleats in the dress. And, on that note, don’t forget to enter to win your own jewelry set from Gerard Yosca. There’s a daisy pendant and earrings up for grabs here. It’s a prize valued at $252!

Bauble of the Week

April 5, 2015 by jessica 2 Comments

If the Easter Bunny let you down today, use it as an excuse to indulge in one of these candy-colored rings from Astley Clarke. The Kaleidoscope collection offers a myriad of colorful gemstone rings to mix and match. In addition to the prism rings featured here, I adore this ring. It’s dotted with tiny African amethyst stones. (You can also save 15% today with code EASTER15!)

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
