Summer Lovin’

March 11, 2015 by jessica 12 Comments

Snapshot001

We’re headed to Fort Lauderdale in one month, which is pretty much the perfect excuse to revamp my summer wardrobe with pieces like this adorable beach tunic (runs large) and the new bag I’m obsessed with. Gerard Yosca also sent over this necklace from his latest collection, Flowerball, which just might be the only gem I pack. (More on the new collection coming soon. It’s a good one!) Well, that and the monkey earrings.

Bauble of the Week

As much as I love gigantic statement earrings, you’ll only see me wear them occasionally. Why? One of my biggest fears is becoming an old lady with droopy earlobes* after wearing them for decades. Thankfully, there are plenty of gorgeous button earrings that pack as much punch as their chandelier cousins. All of the studs featured here are by Gerard Yosca and they’re anything but boring. My favorites are the daisies. They’re the perfect amount of retro chic and would look fabulous with a shift dress this spring. Browse the entire collection of button earrings here and if you also love the daisy earrings, you’ll be smitten with the new Flowerball collection.

*Dave insists that there’s probably a surgery for that. If doctors can fix the earlobes of people who wear plugs, they can probably fix old lady lobes. And if I happen to develop them over time, you bet I’ll be hashtagging #OldLadyLobes on Instagram.

Uniform Style

Jan15Outfit1v1

One of the best things about starting a new year is a chance to enjoy the gorgeous gifts received over the holidays! I certainly don’t want to be part of the sickening “holiday haul” posts (you’d think everyone would realize that the best part of the holidays is spending time with loved ones), but I do want to share just how well my boyfriend did with this J.Crew peacoat. I tend to wear my coats on repeat until they fall apart, so it’s nice to have an alternative to the green coat I’ve been wearing nonstop since last autumn (which, by the way, is indestructible). Paired with my beloved neoprene skirt and a striped shirt, I feel like I should be exploring London’s Notting Hill instead of hanging out in Madison.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]S[/dropcap]ometimes it’s nice to take a break from oversize statement pieces and reach for a daintier bauble, like these bracelets from Gerard Yosca’s “The Singular Bracelet” collection. They’re pretty enough to wear on their own, yet versatile for mixing and matching with other pieces. Best of all, the bracelets come in at an incredibly affordable price range of $45 to $80.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]A[/dropcap]fter all this talk about how much I love Gerard Yosca’s recent collections, it’s time I let you in on the fun with a special holiday giveaway! The two pieces I’ve been wearing on repeat–the Mina earrings and the Tokyo pendant–are now up for grabs and we’re selecting two winners. Each lucky lady will take home one of these gorgeous gems. (To keep things fair, the first person selected will have her choice of the two and the other will go to the second person selected.)

Giveaway6

It’s incredibly easy to enter. All you need to do is leave a comment letting me know which is your favorite piece and how you would style it for the holidays. As always, there are bonus entries for supporting our sponsor and Bedknobs & Baubles. For an additional ten entries, share a collage featuring your preferred item and how you would style it. You can share your image with me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Just be sure to tag me and mention #GerardYosca and #GerardYoscaGiveaway in the post so we can find it!

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
