This week, I’m smitten with:

A beautiful dress reminiscent of Hokusai’s woodblock print The Wave. Kent Wang actually has a pocket square of the print. I gave it to Dave for Christmas a couple of years ago, but I might have to “borrow” it to tie to the handle of a handbag this spring.
This bag in a rich, inky navy. There’s also a hot pink version that I’m obsessing over.
The playful fringe hem on this boxy sweater. I’m also loving the eyelet hem on this one.
Pink sunglasses. It’s pretty much the easiest way to brighten your look for spring, even if you’re still wearing wool coats.
Lele Sadoughi’s spring pieces, especially this pair of earrings.
Sophisticated sage flats.

One of the best things about starting a new year is a chance to enjoy the gorgeous gifts received over the holidays! I certainly don’t want to be part of the sickening “holiday haul” posts (you’d think everyone would realize that the best part of the holidays is spending time with loved ones), but I do want to share just how well my boyfriend did with this J.Crew peacoat. I tend to wear my coats on repeat until they fall apart, so it’s nice to have an alternative to the green coat I’ve been wearing nonstop since last autumn (which, by the way, is indestructible). Paired with my beloved neoprene skirt and a striped shirt, I feel like I should be exploring London’s Notting Hill instead of hanging out in Madison.

Happy New Year! I hope you all rang in 2015 with those you love! We had a low key evening at a friend’s place, listening to ’90s music and playing cards games. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the last day of 2014, even if it meant waking up with a brutal champagne headache yesterday!

Now that a new year is upon us, I usually ignore the fact that it’s still freezing outside and I start looking forward to fresh spring clothes. I just ordered the matching retro floral top and shorts from J.Crew. The matching set reminds Dave of pajamas, but I think it comes off as a more practical take on the romper. The package should arrive today, so here’s hoping that everything fits after weeks of eating just about everything.* (I also sort of want the matching flats. Too much?)

Can you believe this pretty cami is only $15? It also comes in black and white. Stock up and wear them under itchy sweaters, with blazers, tucked into skirts, or with shorts this summer.

*Update: Both pieces are great, but I do need to exchange the top for a larger size. My normal size is incredibly tight in the shoulders and bust. There’s no stretch since it’s polyester.
