Few things are more fun than coming home to a package full of beauty supplies c/o Apothica. I’m particularly fond of the Tocca candle in “Stella,” a sweet blood orange fragrance.

The Essie polish in “Cascade Cool” is a fairly close substitute for Revlon’s “Pink Lingerie.” Since I use Revlon’s quick-drying formula so often, it doesn’t take long for the polish to become thick and unusable.

Every now and then a pair of shoes come along that are too perfect to pass up, like these Kate Spade “Cora” loafers. The sparkles are irresistibly feminine, but the conservative shape keep the shoes from being too over-the-top for daytime outings.

Note: If you’re interested in the shoes, go down a half size. I normally wear a 7 in all Kate Spade shoes, but wear a 6.5 in these.

Weekend Snapshots

We visited friends in the Twin Cities last weekend for two major milestones: the first birthday of their little girl and closing on their first home. They intended to close a few weeks ago, but a string of delays left them scrambling to move in, clean up, and get ready for a housewarming party Saturday afternoon, just 24 hours after closing. Thankfully, a crew of friends and family were on hand to make sure everything went smoothly and the new homeowners were as stress-free as possible.
