We’re back from our Memorial Day road trip to Cincinnati! Neither one of us had been to Ohio before, which made the six and a half hour trip to the city a no brainer for the long weekend. We spent most of our time exploring neighborhoods, stopping in boutiques, and trying bars and restaurants. I’ll share a recap of our most notable stops next week. Until then, I wanted to highlight this dress. It was undoubtedly my favorite piece on the trip thanks to its easy silhouette. I came around to the slight high-low hem after realizing that it gave me just the right amount of extra coverage when I sat down! [dropcap custom_class=”normal”]T[/dropcap]his shirt makes me ridiculously happy and it’s not just because it matches my favorite pin. Paired with a short shift dress, it has the carefree ’60s vibe I’m fond of. And, what better way to embrace its playful side than at a nearby playground? Thankfully no children were around because one trip down the slide made me realize how short my skirt was and how cold plastic playground equipment could be!

I relied on a single pair of cheap sunglasses for years: $20 oversize aviators from Shopko. When those finally succumbed to the pressure of being kept in the car and tossed in my tote bag, I invested in a “nice” pair … and then another. Given how dramatically shades can change the look of an outfit, it’s much more fun to have a small wardrobe of options to choose from.
