Summer is rapidly coming to an end, but I’m taking advantage of every last warm day with these tropical-meets-modern earrings from Color by Amber, a collection of environmentally friendly jewelry. The brand’s sustainable mission is certainly evident in its business practices (nothing goes to a landfill), but also in its primary design material called “ecoresin.” Ecoresin encapsulates the decorative elements in the jewelry and is made with 40% pre-consumer recycled content. (As an added bonus, ecoresin makes these earrings lightweight and easy to wear all day.)

Giveaway! Color by Amber is giving a $30 gift code to one lucky reader! My top picks and the entry form are below. Good luck!

Kendra Scott’s “Danielle” earrings are quickly becoming one of my most frequently worn accessories. I’ve only had them for a week and yet I’ve paired them with yesterday’s monochromatic ensemble, a black shift dress, and a t-shirt and shorts.

Love them as much as I do? You’re in luck! One reader will win a pair of the chalcedony drops courtesy of SusanB, an online jewelry destination with affordable fashion-forward designs and classic styles. As always, there are bonus entries for supporting our sponsor and Bedknobs & Baubles. Good luck!

Giveaway: Astley Clarke Fractal Ring

July 12, 2013 by jessica Leave a Comment

I’ve become such a fan of Astley Clarke since I purchased one of her rings last year (fabulous quality!) and I anxiously await a sneak peek into the new look book each season. I fell in love with the Fractal collection while admiring this year’s autumn/winter styles. The rings are perfect for everyday: elegant, versatile and the octagon-shape adds visual interest. (I’ll share photos of mine next week!)

The rings were just released yesterday, so you’ll be one of the first to wear this gorgeous piece. The winner may choose her favorite color: sea shell, moonlight or duck blue.

To enter, just visit Astley Clarke and let me know what items you love. As always, there are additional entries for supporting Bedknobs & Baubles and our sponsor. The giveaway is open worldwide. Good luck!

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
