Facial Favorites

FaceWashFavorites-Origins

I rarely talk about beauty on my blog because I think others do it so much better than I ever could, but these face care essentials are worth a mention: Origins Checks and Balances face wash and the brand’s Clear Improvement charcoal mask.

I received a sample of the mint-scented face wash with a previous Sephora order and fell in love with it. I use it after removing makeup with a face wipe to leave my skin ultra clean and smooth before following up with lotion. I was hesitant to spend $22 on a face wash when I had been using drugstore brands for as long as I can remember, but just a tiny bit of product lathers beautifully. I bought this bottle back in the middle of May and I’ve probably used an ounce worth.

I use the charcoal mask almost every week or whenever my skin is being problematic. I’ve found that it helps ease breakouts, leaves my skin feeling smooth, and brightens my complexion. It gets a little itchy when it’s drying — at first I worried that my skin wasn’t reacting well — but it leaves my skin incredibly soft.

I’d love to hear about your favorite skincare products. I’m on the hunt for a great wrinkle-reducing eye cream. Any suggestions?

It’s at least worth trying the 1.7 ounce bottle for $12. Some people mention that it feels drying afterward. I always follow up with lotion, so I don’t really have a problem with it.

I also find it works best if you remove some of your makeup first.

It’s pricy – but I love L’Occitane’s Immortelle Precious line. I got a sample in a beauty box and fell in love with the night cream and what it’s done to my face. I ended up buying the larger size and then the eye balm and it’s made a massive difference – deep wrinkles under my eyes are nowhere near as deep and I’m not even half-way through the jar.

Is this the eye cream you use? http://www.sephora.com/immortelle-eye-balm-P39912

      Thanks! 🙂

Yep, that’s the one… you only need a little (same with the night cream) at a time so no need to slather it on and use up the jar too fast. 🙂

My sister and I have used Origins for the past 5 years, I used both of those and the Dr Weil Mega Bright line. I stopped using them last year but went right back. My sis is older than me and looooove the Dr Weil Mega mushroom line, and uses the eye cream religiously. My sister worked for Origins for a while, so we got to try a lot of it. But now we still buy and use it, I tried Clarins and Clinique and they were nice but not like Origins. I’m on my first bottle of the body wash version of that mask and I’m loving it. Sorry for the long comment, but I’m a huge origins fan.

Okay, as for eye creams I love this one http://www.skyniceland.com/product-5-icelandic-relief-eye-cream (I’ve used it on and off for years) and a new one that I adore is http://www.passport2beauty.com/products/tibetan-goji-berry-eye-serum I got it in my FabFitFun Spring box I think it was, anyway it’s pricey but it’s GOOD, I had noticeable difference in my 41 year old skin after using it for a month.

Everyone we met in Philly apologized for their gruff nature, despite no one actually living up to that stereotype. 😂

It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. It’s so nice to be home after a whirlwind week. We flew out to Philadelphia last Friday for a few days of exploring. It was our first time in the City of Brotherly Love and we loved every minute of it from the architecture to the restaurants, and most of all: the welcoming and friendly people. After that, we had one night at home before a flight to Denver to celebrate my cousin’s wedding. We got back to Madison late last night and have spent the day puttering around the house, getting caught up on laundry, grocery shopping, harvesting the season’s first tomatoes from the garden, and admiring just how much the hydrangeas have grown in the course of a week.
I always get a kick out of comparing views of our I always get a kick out of comparing views of our home today to the photos I took during our home inspection. (Swipe to see our main bedroom then!) While I knew the house had potential, it was hard to look past some of the owner’s “design” choices. Though, it looks like the room was destined to have a warm-toned quilt. 😂

P.S. @schoolhouse just released new colors of their popular Stillwater Floral Quilt!

It also inadvertently became the weekend I made Dave eat a cheeseburger every day, between @redhotranchchicago, @eatmottst, and @smallcheval. There are worst ways to spend a weekend.

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together.
