When my grandfather passed away, my mom inherited her mother’s costume jewelry that had long been forgotten (Grandma Vivian had passed away years prior when I was just three years old). I remember spending hours pouring over each rhinestone-encrusted bauble and delicately laying out my favorites to add to my own collection—with mom’s permission, of course. (She didn’t mind.)
