Friday Five Under $55

April 3, 2015 by jessica 4 Comments

FiveUnder55-1v6

When I had my first blog, one of the most popular features was a weekly “Five Friday Finds Under $50.” I stopped doing it when I launched this one because my budget no longer necessitated it. However, I’ve been receiving more and more comments about featured items being outside everyone’s budget. So, it’s time to bring it back! Here’s your first roundup of the best budget buys (this time under $55) that don’t look inexpensive:

  • A simple white dress
  • A colorful Rebecca Minkoff pouch for $35
  • The cutest striped tank with a ruffled hem
  • A summer statement necklace from Kenneth Jay Lane
  • Bright blue sunglasses

The Coveted

This week, I’m smitten with:

  • A breezy striped dress for only $59. There are free shipping and free returns at Urban Outfitters with orders over $50, so it’s worth a try. This Loft version is just as pretty if you’d rather have a midi dress.
  • A pair of ankle-wrap sandals from Splendid that come in at just $108.
  • Banana leaf throw pillows. I’m not sure I’ll ever grow tired of this tropical print!
  • Gorgeous statement earrings for $38.
  • A laser-cut circle skirt to wear to work all season long.
  • A ceramic pineapple jar. You’ll have to sign up for Dot & Bo to purchase this (here’s my referral link, if you feel so inclined), which is kind of annoying. So, here are the details: the jar is 4.5″ in diameter, 7.75″ high, and is priced at $25.99.
  • Shopbop’s sale! Tons of spring items are marked down, including Rebecca Minkoff bags. I can’t get over how cute the mini bucket bag is!

Reminder! Enter to win a jewelry set from Gerard Yosca valued at $252!

Behind the Baubles // Three Jane NY

ThreeJane1

If there’s one jewelry brand that will make you want to slip on your fanciest heels and head out for cocktails, it’s Three Jane NY. The brand was developed by designer and former publicist Katie Schloss who specializes in whimsical designs (bottle opener bracelet, anyone?), Art Deco styles, and saturated color.

Giveaway: Gerard Yosca Flowerball

March 31, 2015 by jessica 8 Comments

GerardYoscaFlowerballDaisyEarrings

Every time Gerard Yosca releases a new collection, I proclaim that it’s my favorite one yet–and Flowerball is no exception. As I mentioned last week, it’s a retro-meets-modern take on spring florals that’s absolutely perfect for this year’s ’70s trend. And, now that spring is finally here to stay, we’re celebrating with a giveaway! One very lucky reader will win a pair of Daisy Post Earrings (see them here) and a Flowerball Pendant. The prize is valued at $252. Good luck!

Spring is in the Air

March 30, 2015 by jessica 26 Comments

MarchOutfit3v10

I refused to wear a jacket on Saturday, even though the temperature barely rose above 40 degrees. It was dry, the snow was mostly melted, and it was sunny. That and I’m tired of wearing winter coats. So, I threw on my favorite merino wool sweater that I’ve had for four years now (and actually wore when I met Dave for the first time) and a pair of, gasp, jeans. For the record, I hate jeans. I don’t think they’re comfortable or particularly flattering, but I figured it was time to buy a pair for weekends when I don’t want to wear a skirt or black pants. I went to Old Navy after seeing this pair of jeans on Lydia. I see the appeal of the jegging-like material, but they looked terrible on me. I ended up going with the skinny “Sweetheart” style. Paired with some of my favorite spring accessories–including daisy earrings that you can win tomorrow–it made for a relaxed ensemble for running errands and indulging in afternoon drinks.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
