I’ve been striking out with my online purchases lately. This skirt was entirely too short to wear in public and this scarf turned out to be more of an olive green instead of the pretty heather grey I had hoped for. I still have this dress on its way to me and my fingers are crossed that it works out. Dave’s office Christmas party is quickly approaching and I need a pretty cocktail dress for the occasion. If it’s a bust, I’m thinking of ordering this. Nautical stripes aren’t your standard holiday fare, but it sure is cute.

Can we also discuss how cute this leather wine tote is?! I’m not much of a wine drinker, but it could do double duty as a little picnic tote. No one needs to haul a giant basket with all of the fixin’s. A bottle of booze and a few snacks are all you really need. Alternatively, it’s a chic option for the farmers’ market if your shopping list only includes flowers and cheese.

When we went to Chicago earlier this month, we stopped at the Christkindlmarket where I spent entirely too much money on German Christmas ornaments. They’re all beautiful, but this pink pine cone is my favorite.

Affixing letter decals to a vintage mirror is an elegant way to display the evening’s bar menu. A dash of green garland and red cocktails serve as the inspiration for a festive ensemble in traditional Christmas colors.

Shop It: Shift Dress // Ashtray (for gems!) // Metallic Flats // Travel Adapter // Nail Polish // Cozy Throw // Coffee Table Book // Silver Earrings // Amethyst Wrap Bracelet // Leather Notebook

Whether it’s that third cup of hot buttered rum or a beautiful leather wrap bracelet, the holidays are all about indulgence – and one lucky lady will have an even more luxurious holiday with this amethyst and leather bracelet from Astley Clarke.

I’m thrilled to share our final “12 Days of Holiday Giveaways” prize with you. I learned of Astley Clarke earlier this year and have been smitten with the brand after making my first purchase: this cocktail ring.

The winner of this giveaway is taking home an amethyst Boslena bracelet, a modern take on a charm bracelet that can be customized with sliding charms. Her bracelet will come with an 18 karat gold vermeil amethyst sliding charm to get her started. Good luck!

Holiday Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers

December 1, 2012 by jessica Leave a Comment

Shop It: Chocolate Bar // Lip Gloss // Hair Ties // Bottle Stopper // Playing Cards // Book of Card Games // Star-Shaped Sparkler // Coin Purse // Bright Earrings // Gem Magnets // Peppermint Sticks // Cheeky Glasses

One lucky reader won’t have to wait until Christmas morning to score one of my favorite little luxuries: a set of Kitsch hair ties. Kitsch hair ties are a prettier alternative to a standard hair elastic (and the glittery ones are a festive way to pull your hair back after a long, cocktail-filled night!). Read my review here, then head over to Kitsch to choose your favorite colors!

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
