Road Trippin’

Lilly-Pulitzer-Elsa-Tunic---4

I talk about this Lilly Pulitzer “Elsa” tunic every summer, but that’s because it really is the best thing to wear for a summer road trip. The silk is lightweight and breathable, and sleeves offer enough sun protection to keep you from getting fried. I’ve had this top for almost three years now and I go back to it time and time again. In fact, I think it’s been with me for every vacation since I bought it! I purchased another Elsa tunic when we visited Palm Beach earlier this year. It’s an obnoxious bright pink that I don’t wear nearly as often as this one. I still love it, but I think another blue tunic is in order. It’s a tossup between the peacock-esque scallops on this one and this bamboo-inspired print.

In completely unrelated news, Tory Burch’s private sale started today and runs through Aug. 14. Shop it here.

Brace Yourself

06072015-1

It’s now day six with a fractured foot. Some things are getting easier (like motoring around on crutches), but some things are increasingly frustrating (like the bruising on my side from the crutches). This is my first time breaking a bone and I wasn’t sure what to expect (so much crying!). I’ll share my observations later this week, along with tips in case you ever have the misfortune of fracturing your own foot.

On a more upbeat note, this is my final post with Cara for our #WaysToYosca series. This pendant and the coordinating pair of earrings (seen in this post) have been an integral part of my early summer wardrobe. I tend to fall in love with a new piece of jewelry and wear it for weeks on end with different outfits. These two pieces from Gerard Yosca’s “Mesa” collection are no different and I’m sure I’ll be wearing them well into autumn with the upcoming season’s Native American trend.

If you’ve fallen in love with anything from the Mesa collection–or anything on Gerard’s site, for that matter–take 20% off with code MESA20.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
