Snapshot

February 12, 2013 by jessica Leave a Comment

Every year, I use a portion of my tax return to splurge on a sartorial item I wouldn’t otherwise purchase. The first year was a DVF wrap dress, the next was a YSL arty ring (back when it was still $195), then a Rebecca Minkoff MAC bag, followed by two years of Kate Spade “Karolina” pumps. I’ve never regretted any of these investment pieces and I’m especially thrilled with this year’s item: a pair of timeless Ferragamo “Varina” flats.

We spent the weekend in snowy central Wisconsin at Dave’s parents’ cabin. As much as I enjoy cozy evenings by the fire, I’m anxious for warm weather and the chance to wear my new shoes.

Right now, I’m coveting:

  • Stingray-print pumps in a lovely shade of blue
  • Estee Lauder’s spring nail polish collection (I already own the blue one)
  • Serious fabric in candy colors, like this Milly dress
  • Elephant glasses
  • A gold stapler
  • The interesting cut of this blue topaz ring by Katie Rowland

In other news, I’m featured on Franish today. Why did I start blogging? What’s my favorite piece of jewelry? Learn more about me here!

Right now, I’m coveting:

  • A unique ombre wedge heel
  • New porcelain trays by illustrator Caitlin McGauley (the mint one is my favorite)
  • Darling earrings by Lulu Frost
  • A cozy throw with a pom pom trim (discovered at Maia’s blog, Conundrum – add it to your reader)
  • A swipe of my favorite lipstick: Revlon’s lip butter in “sweet tart”
  • The chic packaging of Harney & Sons’ tea (I prefer coffee, but I’ve only been able to drink tea as I battle through the cold/flu hybrid that everyone has right now. And, quite frankly, the cheap grocery store brand is disgusting.)
  • Geometric print jeans that I just might purchase later today

Coveting: Mint Shoes

December 11, 2012 by jessica Leave a Comment

Over the past year, I’ve added four pairs of mint shoes to my wardrobe: heels, loafers, sandals and sneakers. The hue may seem impractical, but it’s versatile enough to pair with winter’s evergreen then transition seamlessly to spring.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
