12 Home Decor Ideas for a Springtime Refresh

March 18, 2021 by jessica Leave a Comment

Spring 2021 Home Refresh

We had another round of snow earlier this week, coming right after a string of 50-degree days that melted everything that was on the ground previously. Hopefully it was the last winter blast before spring because I am so ready for warmer weather after being cooped up during a pandemic winter (and, you know, the rest of the year). Since it’s not quite warm enough to spend much time outdoors, I’m setting my sights on making the indoors spring-ready with lighter colors and plenty of fresh green hues. I’ve already picked up a pair of those striped pillows, which are a steal at $20 each for a zippered pillow and insert. I also recently placed an order for a new lamp! I almost went for that green one above, but decided to go with a different statement-maker instead. I can’t wait for it to arrive next month!

  1. Striped Pillow, $20
  2. Outdoor Dining Chair, $129
  3. Platter, $98
  4. Acrylic Drinkware, $5.50 – $88
  5. Mini Serving Bowl Set, $52
  6. Sateen Sheet Set, $58 – $228
  7. Four-Piece Place Setting, $43.80
  8. Mushroom-Shaped Lamp, $299
  9. Throw Pillow, $47.95
  10. Basketweave Throw Blanket, $135
  11. Striped Runner, $115
  12. Planter, $37

Top 10 | Spring Mules

Top-10-Spring-Mules-2015

This ’90s throwback made an appearance last year and it’s back again for 2015. I honestly didn’t think I’d warm up to this trend, until I saw this pin. Pairing an easy-to-slip-into mule with her breezy dress just screams summer chic. Cone heels still look outdated (sorry, Kate Spade), but a chunky heel or wedge with unexpected details (like braided faux leather) feels fresh. My favorite is this pair from Tory Burch with the geometric design on the wedge. Not really into heels? How cute would these slides look with a pair of slim pants?

Instant Replay: April 2013

May 1, 2013 by jessica Leave a Comment

Went mod. Admired the first signs of spring. Enjoyed a clear day after weeks of rain. Spent an afternoon at local watering holes. Finally found the perfect pair of pointy black flats. Scooped up a pair of floral shorts. Went to Milwaukee for an overnight getaway. Visited the Milwaukee Brewing Company. Giggled my way through Mindy Kaling’s book. Adored a surprise bouquet of daisies from Dave. Wore this necklace a lot. Pulled out a few springtime accessories.

I’d love to keep in touch with you on Instagram! You can find me at @bedknobsandbaubles.

Reminder! Win a pair of bangle bracelets from Sequin!

Friday Find Under $50

April 19, 2013 by jessica Leave a Comment

Rampage bow sandals, $24.99

I promised myself that I wouldn’t post another pair of sandals for this week’s Friday Find Under $50, but I couldn’t pass up these pretty bow sandals that look like the Kate Spade pair I yearned for years ago. I’m debating between mint and red. Which color do you fancy?

You can find the sandals at a few retailers, but Belk (linked above) is the cheapest. Amazon also has a large selection of available sizes.

Congratulations to the winners of the JewelMint giveaway: Dianne H., Chelsea T., and Franziska H.! I’ll send you all an email shortly. Thank you to everyone for entering. Your support helps make these giveaways possible – and there’s another on the way!

Quotable

Who are we kidding? Any lawn game is more fun after a bottle of wine (in this adorable Kate Spade case, of course).

I am just the happiest! I keep looking at this bat I am just the happiest! I keep looking at this bathroom and thinking how lucky we are that we were able to do this! It wasn’t always easy to navigate the stressful moments, but the end result is worth it. I feel like I’m at a luxury hotel every time I shower! (And it sure beats showering with the spiders in our [basically unfinished] basement bathroom. It was like camping in our own home for the past six weeks — and I very much hate camping!)

More photos to come!

The rest of the shower tile will be installed on Monday and then they’ll starting laying the floor tile. I can’t wait!

My NCAA bracket was busted within the first few ho My NCAA bracket was busted within the first few hours of the tournament, but there's a much more fun one to take part in: a bagel bracket with @bantambagels -- and you can win a month's supply of the winning flavor! There will be a daily matchup on their Instagram stories each Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday now through April 5. Each vote in the daily face off is a chance to be one of five grand prize winners! My vote goes to Everybody's Favorite, an everything bagel stuffed with veggie cream cheese.

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye ... to So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye ... to this bathroom. Demolition on our upstairs main bathroom starts today! I love old houses and #OldHouseThings, but this bathroom's prior renovation clearly isn't part of the original home -- nor was it done well. A leak from the bathtub into our kitchen on Easter 2020 kicked off our plans for the renovation and it's finally coming to fruition two years later. The prior damage wasn't caused by leaking pipes (although we just replaced all of the old galvanized pipes with PVC plumbing to futureproof the house); it was from water pooling on the edge of the tub after a shower and then spilling over the side onto the floor. As we discovered, the tub isn't level (nor is the toilet) which caused water to flow over. I'm sure we'll discover plenty of other water damage as our contractor's team starts pulling everything out and I'm so excited for the peace of mind that will come from getting everything in tip top shape.

Today is also the day that fixtures will be installed in the half bath! There's a short punch list of small things yet to do in that space, but the finished product is right around the corner!
