In an increasingly digital — and photo heavy — age, there’s immense pressure to always work our best angles. There’s nothing wrong with that, as Garance Doré points out, but there’s also more to life.

DAYDREAM
We’re starting to look at houses, which is as nerve-wracking and intimidating as it is exciting! We actually found a small ’50s home that had been completely renovated. I’m crazy about it, but it doesn’t have a place to eat, aside from a tiny “eat-in kitchen” area that wouldn’t fit four adults. And, it really bothers me. It’s also $50,000 over what I wanted to spend. In the meantime, I’m stashing money away for the big day and daydreaming about home decor. I’m loving this inspiration post.

Classic cocktails are long overdue for a comeback. Toss four ingredients into a shaker this weekend and take flight with an aviation.

Many of us have no problem shelling out big bucks on wardrobe staples like the ubiquitous little black dress because it can be worn with different accessories and for countless occasions. There’s either subtle everyday pieces or the statement-makers that make infrequent appearances. That doesn’t have to be the case. I was recently given the opportunity to review a piece from the collection and chose the Aida Tassel Necklace. The geometric design is inspired by the architecture of Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar and crafted with an antique gold finish. But, as you’ll see below, its versatility is most appealing. Along with the tassel, each “fan” is removable to allow you to change the length of the pendant. I prefer the longest setting with three links and the opulent tassel (obviously), but you could go to the opposite end of the spectrum and pull all of the embellishments off. Without the pendant, the collar necklace adds a sleek hint of gold for a minimalist ensemble.

The Coveted

This look is definitely more Alice in Wonderland than I prefer, but I had to put together this week’s “The Coveted” with that whimsical clutch in mind! Here’s what caught my eye this week:

A sweater with a removable bejeweled collar. (Wear it with the rest of your sweaters when this one is at the dry cleaner.)
Little rhinestone kisses. It’s a subtle touch of glam for the holiday season, a flirty hint at a New Year’s Eve kiss, and a Valentine’s Day must.
A rich red pout.
An evening bag that’s equal amounts glitzy and goofy. Basically, the perfect conversation piece.
This mod mini skirt. At first blush, it looks like the white portion is just a curved design, but if you take a peek at the stock image, you’ll see that it’s actually a heart. On the more affordable side of things, this mini comes in at $54 and still has a bold black and white design.
A modern update to the classic Mary Jane pump. While not as elegant, these have a similar design with the asymmetrical strap.

Windowpane

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you already know I fell in love with this dress Friday afternoon. I’m so crazy about it, in fact, that I wore it to a baby shower on Saturday and again on Sunday to run a few errands and stop at an open house. It’s technically a tunic and meant to be worn with pants or leggings (pfft…), but I’m 5’7″ and it’s definitely long enough to wear as a dress. (Don’t worry, I double checked by layering my favorite black skirt underneath and the hemlines met.) It’s also the softest sweater dress I have ever worn. The cream and black colorway is sold out online, but our store had the full size run.
