Lilly in Palm Beach

May 4, 2015 by jessica 15 Comments

Outfit05042015v1

What better place to break out my newest Lilly Pulitzer dress than Palm Beach? We just drove up for the morning to walk around Worth Avenue and pop over to the Lilly Pulitzer store where I bought this tunic as an early birthday gift to myself. I’m completely obsessed with this dress, so much so that I’m considering the other print. It looks scandalously short on the model, but it’s really not that obscene. I’m 5’7″ and I didn’t feel like I was on the verge of flashing anyone…until we went to Delray Beach that afternoon for a quick stroll. Every breeze flirts with the hem!

Bauble of the Week

May 3, 2015 by jessica 2 Comments

Gripoix is a new-to-me French jewelry brand that was founded in 1868 Augustine Gripoix. Instead of using gemstones, colored glass is set into intricate metalwork. This season’s designs, now available for pre-order, are heavily influenced by the Art Deco period. These hoop earrings are my favorite of the collection, but these are a close second.

Gear up for the Derby today with a julep while you place your bets. If you’re lucky enough to be in Louisville this weekend, check out this guide for the best places to dine. You can also learn how each Derby horse was named here.

TRACK
You may have noticed that Iconosquare recently monetized its analytic capabilities and it’s not exactly affordable at $200 a month. Here are some inexpensive alternatives. (Edit: Iconosquare sent out an email on Saturday admitting that it may have been a little shortsighted to charge so much per month. They’ve gone back to the old version for now.)

LEARN
Hate to break it to you, but the croissant’s origins aren’t actually French. Learn more about the iconic pastry here because everyone loves a know-it-all at brunch.

WEAR
I’m on the hunt for a sexy lariat necklace. I love the length of this version.

CONTOUR
You’re living under a rock if you haven’t heard about contouring yet. I’ve been using the Clinique sculpting stick and this highlighter, but I kind of prefer the French approach to this beauty trend.

COOK
Fresh produce is the best part of summer. Make this asparagus and poached egg salad for brunch.

Outfit05012015-2

I wore this Erin Fetherston kiss-print dress to Dave’s sister’s wedding a few weeks ago. I actually bought it for another wedding back in Oct. 2013 and it’s still one of my favorite pieces. A quirky print, floaty chiffon, and a strapless silhouette? What’s not to love? (Honestly, Erin Fetherston has pulled through whenever I’ve needed a special occasion dress and there are usually great deals on Amazon.)

On another note, May officially kicks off my birthday month! Even though I’m broke after last month’s spending spree, I’d love to treat myself to the blouse I featured in yesterday’s post. Boho chic isn’t exactly my style, but I adore it.

The Coveted

CurrentlyCoveting-043015v2

This week, I’m coveting:

  • A beautiful gold choker studded with dots. (This one is significantly cheaper and has a similar vibe.)
  • Fluttery shorts that look like a skirt when worn.
  • A pretty pair of espadrille sandals.
  • Flash tattoos inspired by the work of popular jewelry designers.
  • A punchy lip color. (This one is in “Blazing Coral.”)
  • An off-the-shoulder blouse with intricate crochet detail.
  • A cross-body bag with the right amount of graphic color.
  • Not Pictured: A gold-dipped bud vase.
  • Not Pictured: A dishtowel that would make kitchen chores way more fun.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
