We just booked a long weekend in Denver this spring! It’s my first time visiting the Mile High City. Let me know if you have recommendations either with a comment here or a DM on Instagram!

Take a look around Jennifer Behr’s apartment.

I adore this petite drink table.

The Laundress made a niche for itself in the marketplace and now the brand is facing backlash after its recent recall.

The brownie recipe from this cookbook is incredible. Get the recipe here.

The beachy roundup of covetable finds.

While I don’t think I could hold myself to only buying five new items in a year, I appreciate the thoughtful approach of this fashion editor.

Loving the vintage charm of these slingbacks in seafoam blue.

A new way to read The Great Gatsby.

The Tiffany x Nike collaboration could have been so much better.

On the Right Foot: The Going-Out Top Returns, A Must-Have Swimsuit Cover-Up, The Origins of Carbonara & More!

January 30, 2023 by jessica Leave a Comment

Tracking down the origins of carbonara.

Things I bought and loved this month – plus a $20 discount at East Fork pottery.

It’s okay to pocket the branded restaurant pen.

Bringing back a “Look for Less” feature with earrings at a fraction of the cost of a similar designer version.

I love a green and white stripe, so I jumped at the chance to buy this cover-up the moment I saw it.

The going-out top is back.

Rounding up a selection of bedframes and sharing which one we purchased!

I’m challenging myself to make more desserts from Claire Saffitz’s cookbooks this year (Dessert Person and What’s for Dessert) and made this peach, bourbon, and pecan cake over the weekend.

Tour a home that fully embraces color.

I wish I had a place for this sweet pendant light.

A reminder to use the nice things.

On the Right Foot: Introducing Our New Kitty, a Colorful Home Tour, Kohler is Reintroducing Vintage Hues & More!

January 23, 2023 by jessica Leave a Comment

Recent Snapshots (clockwise starting from upper left): Meet Lily and follow her on Instagram; I bought the dress featured in this post and wore it at an event last week; Lily was fascinated by the recent snow fall; we finally bought a new bed (details soon!) and now I’m selecting a color for the accent wall.

Kohler is bringing back a couple of its vintage hues. Vote for your favorites here.

I adore this colorful home.

Goals for 2023.

You don’t need to have a birthday on the horizon to make this easy vanilla cake.

This resonates with all pet owners.

If you’re on the lookout for a show-stopping centerpiece bowl, get on the wait list for this one.

See 25 images from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Contest, run by the Natural History Museum in London. Fair warning, some of these images are haunting.

Beach bound? Add these sculptural earrings to your suitcase.

On the Right Foot: French Onion Pasta, Reinventing Color, Art Deco Earrings & More!

December 26, 2022 by jessica Leave a Comment

One of my favorite ornaments on our Christmas tree. I’m a sucker for vintage acorn ornaments!

If you ever wondered what would happen if French onion soup met pasta, this is for you. I made it last week and it was ridiculously good!

The psychology of online shopping.

I hope this Frank Lloyd Wright project comes to fruition in Madison!

Design Files: The Robey, which just might be my new favorite hotel in Chicago.

This is fascinating: a British zoologist wants to reinvent color.

Keep your eyes peeled at Target for when this decorative box comes out. Our Target already had it out and it’s even better in person. I bought one to store miscellaneous things on our desk.

A roundup of covetable finds!

Mirrored walls are making a comeback.

Five mistakes people make when talking to executives at work.

Can tourists help bring back Venice from the brink of death?

Art Deco-inspired earrings that are casual enough for everyday wear.

I’m in the middle of this book and I’m loving it.

Absolutely adored this home tour!

Did you know that LEGO has a program that will wash, sort, and donate old blocks? If they don’t meet quality standards for donation, they’ll be grinded down and used to make new bricks.

The latest list of covetable finds.

Talk about an aspirational Christmas tree!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know that I made these cookies over the weekend. If I were to do it again, I’d hold off on adding the jam dollop until just before serving. It added a lot of moisture to the cookie and made the texture of the already-soft cookies even softer.

What a clever IKEA hack to transform a cabinet into a greenhouse.

I made this cheeseball for a holiday party last weekend. It was a hit!

Loving this budget-friendly pleated dress!

Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until la Our guest room wasn’t a design priority until late last year when we finally bought a bed, mattress, and a set of sheets. We used some of our own extra bedding (tucking in the generous overhang of our king blankets under the queen-sized mattress) and old bedside lamps from our bedroom: functional, but not quite the charming space I’d envisioned.

That started to change when I purchased the Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse — an item I’d been eyeing for years — plus some graphic floral pillows. Then came a bright blue round cushion and the sweetest Teig lamp, both generously gifted by Schoolhouse, and the room finally started to come together. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hi Growing up in northern Wisconsin, lilacs always hit peak bloom right around my birthday on May 30. My mom would fill a large crystal vase with fresh-cut stems, and their scent would waft through the house.

Now that I live a few hours south and lilac season wraps up earlier, the blooms actually mark the start of my birthday month.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.
