Budget Update

March 27, 2015 by jessica 15 Comments

BudgetUpdateMarch2015

Judging by my purchases, it looks like I eschewed Wisconsin’s grey days and tried to buy my way to a summery state of mind. Our upcoming Florida trip was certainly a catalyst, but it goes beyond that. This is the first round of spring/summer clothes in a long time that really feels like “me.” As bloggers, we spend so much time evaluating our wardrobes, obsessing over new purchases, and online shopping (even if it’s just browsing for a blog post) that you’d think it would be easy to pinpoint our personal styles. I think it actually makes it more difficult. There’s so much noise to sift through to find the style that really speak to us. I don’t think I’m quite ready to define my style, but I’m getting there and this month is a good first step.

For the record, my income does not support the type of spending I did this month. I had a healthy rollover from last month and additional money to add, which technically kept me under my budget limit. I still spent a ridiculous amount.

See all of the year’s wardrobe additions here.

THE BUDGET

Each month, I’ve earmarked $250 to spend on clothing and accessories. I consider blog revenue and eBay sales to be “fun money” and will add a portion of that additional income to my monthly budget (if it doesn’t end up in my travel fund first). I’ll record any budget increases or expenditures here each month. Anything that has been ordered and has not yet arrived will appear on the next budget update. I’m also allowing any extra money to rollover into the next month.

  • $250 starting budget
  • + $256 rollover from last month
  • + $360 added to the budget this month
  • – $646 spent this month
  • = $220 remaining

PURCHASED

  • J.Crew “Tilly” sweater in heather aqua ($18): I stopped at J.Crew on a whim early in the month when they had an extra 40% off sale. The slightly cropped length of this sweater pairs perfectly with my beloved a-line skirts. It’s a good work basic. (I had a $20 gift card to use after J.Crew screwed up a return back in January.)
  • J.Crew tassel earrings ($26): I spotted these out of the corner of my eye when I was leaving J.Crew and I’m so glad I did! They have a nice heft to them without becoming too heavy to wear all day.
  • Tory Burch “Kerrington” mini tote ($196): I purchased this on a whim from the Shopbop sale to get to the threshold for 20% off. Admittedly, I was unsure if I’d like having a vinyl tote rather than leather, but it grew on me quickly. It’ll be nice to have a bag this summer that I won’t worry about taking outdoors or getting wet. There’s an interior middle zip pocket that allows ample room for my camera and other valuables. The only drawback, as an online reviewer points out, is that the handles don’t lay flat against the bag when using the cross-body strap. It’s a little awkward, but I don’t plan to use the cross-body strap too often unless I need to maneuver the farmers’ market hands-free.
  • Lilly Pulitzer “Brynn” fit-and-flare dress ($198): My most recent Lilly Pulitzer dress was a size 8 (and it still fits). Figuring this dress was a similar cut, I ordered an 8 and a 10 to be on the safe side. I had to exchange both for a 12. This did a number on my self esteem, but this dress is worth it. The color is fantastic. The quality is outstanding. Really, I can’t say enough good things about it. There are even cups sewn into the bodice so you don’t need to wear a bra! (I’m bringing it to my tailor today to have the straps taken up, which I have to do with most dresses.)
  • Lilly Pulitzer “Maisy” slip dress ($208): If two Lilly dresses in month seems a bit ridiculous, that’s because it is. I had this one on my wish list for a few weeks and kept going back and forth on it. I liked the print online and I can’t resist swingy dresses. However, loose shapes aren’t the most flattering on me and the price was too steep for something that I might not feel fabulous in. And then Lilly Pulitzer sweetened the deal with gifts last weekend. Fine, Lilly, take all my money. It’s flirty, it’s sexy, and it’s going to be perfect for Florida.
  • Lilly Pulitzer “Lillian” scarf ($0): I almost didn’t add this to the month’s wardrobe update because it was one of the free gifts, but it’s so good! This thing is huge at 48 inches by 80 inches. It’s also incredibly soft and drapes well without being bulky. I rarely wear scarves, so I’m probably going to keep it in my carry-on bag to use as an in-flight blanket.
  • Not Counted: Tory Burch monkey hoop earrings ($250): As many of you know, I treat to something special every year with my tax return. I’ve pined for these earrings ever since I saw them in the runway photos and I’m thrilled they’re finally in my jewelry box, even if they are a little too heavy to wear all day. I think they’re overpriced at $250 and would urge you to wait for a sale if you have your eye on them.
  • Not Counted/Not Pictured: Victoria’s Secret “Fabulous” bra: I’ve been trying–and failing–to find a good bra ever since Victoria’s Secret discounted the Biofit collection years ago. And then the Fabulous collection was launched (you’ll see it featured in your mailers this month). It’s everything I could have asked for: it’s lightweight, plenty of lift, straps that don’t slip, and a comfortable band. I wear a 36A, so I’m not sure if larger ladies will appreciate the style’s “extreme lift.” I’ll be stockpiling it over the year.

GIFTED
As always, I want to be transparent about what I’ve received from companies for review or as part of a collaboration. I’m very selective about the pieces I accept and will only work with companies I feel good about recommending.

  • Ferragamo “Varina” flats in black c/o Shopbop: Squee! As you know, I receive a monthly gift card from Shopbop in exchange for talking about the sales and items I would have babbled about anyway. I knew I wanted to use this incredible collaboration to pick something I’d wear forever and saved up to buy a black pair of Varinas during the recent Shopbop sale.
  • Gerard Yosca daisy post earrings, “Full Bloom” necklace, and “Full Bloom” dangle earrings: Every time Gerard comes out with a new collection, I’m awestruck by how pretty it is. The Flowerball collection is one of my favorites yet. It’s feminine, a little retro, and incredibly wearable. You can read more here.

[spacer]

UP NEXT

I would still like to snag this lime green skirt if it goes on sale before our Florida trip. I also need to find a pair of dressy flat shoes to wear with my dress to Dave’s sister’s wedding. Heels are great and all, but I feel more like myself in a pair of flats. And they’re easier to dance in! There’s also a strong chance I’ll buy a pair of Stubbs & Wootton loafers in Palm Beach. It would blow my budget for April and May, but it would be worth every penny. This necklace would also be fun to wear this summer.

[spacer]

DIDN’T WORK OUT

Of course, with every successful shopping month, there are some misses:

  • J.Crew Factory printed stretch shorts: In theory, these should fit the same as the stretch shorts I bought last year from J.Crew Factory that still fit. They don’t. They’re super small in my regular size. I didn’t like them enough to order them in a size up.
  • J.Crew laser-cut pleated skirt: J.Crew rarely does cute a-line or pleated skirts, so I couldn’t wait to try this one on. I liked everything about it, except the lining. The lining is cut similar to that of a pencil skirt. I had to size up to find a somewhat comfortable size in the lining, but then the waist was a few inches too large.
  • Madewell “Abroad” fit and flare dress: There are two pleats right above the tush. It’s barely noticeable in the stock image and probably isn’t a big deal if you have a straight figure. However, if you’re like me and have ample curves back there, don’t get it. It’s incredibly unflattering.
  • Ann Taylor leopard print jacket: I ordered this to qualify for free shipping. I felt like a grandmother in it and not an impossibly chic one.
  • Ann Taylor textured dot romper: Looks cute, right? It runs about a size small, which would be fine if it weren’t for the awful swishy sound of cheap polyester. Just don’t. (Or do on major sale.)
  • Express “Barcelona” striped cami: Everyone loves these things (case in point) and I finally caved and bought a couple for myself. I’m definitely between sizes and it took a ridiculous amount of time to find one that fit correctly. They sat in the closet all month with the bag and the tags still affixed. Normally I can’t wait to tear the tags off to make new items officially mine. I just didn’t have “the feeling” with them. I’m returning them this afternoon.
  • Alexa Chung x AG Jeans “Honey” off-the-shoulder dress: If you follow on Instagram or read the bottom of this post, you know how much I love, love, love this dress. It’s just way too big in the medium. I ordered it in a small and it’s on its way, but I’m still keeping an eye out for an XS.

Budget Update

BudgetUpdateFebruary2015v2

I’m never too excited about clothes at this time of year. I’ve grown tired of cold-weather clothes and all I want to do is purchase items for warmer months…only spring seems so far away. (Does anyone else hate February as much as I do?) On the bright side, this bout with melancholy helped me stay well under budget with just three new purchases!

If you follow along on Twitter, you might be wondering about one more purchase: the Tory Burch monkey earrings I’ve been obsessing over. I decided to spend a portion of my tax return on these (#TaxReturnSplurge) and they’re scheduled to arrive today. Can’t. Wait. I don’t include this annual designer splurge part of my regular budget. If the earrings are as great as I hope they are, I’ll dedicate a post to them soon!

See all of the year’s wardrobe additions here.

I’m also allowing any extra money to rollover into the next month.

  • + $50 added to the budget this month
  • – $190 spent this month

PURCHASED

  • Vintage Egyptian revival pendant – $34: Every few Saturdays, I get on a vintage jewelry kick and spend hours scouring eBay. This was way too good to pass up and I’ve already worn it a ton.
  • BB Dakota “Savvanah” lace dress in pink – $88: I haven’t been thrilled with my current dresses and had a big event early in the month. The “short, swingy silhouette” description of this dress won me over and I ordered in a couple of sizes to try. As the reviews indicate, the smaller dress was the winner. It has a deep keyhole opening in the back that puckered out strangely. I loved the dress otherwise and did a quick running stitch to close it for the event. I need to take it to the tailor to have it done properly before I wear it again for Dave’s sister’s rehearsal dinner in April.
  • J.Crew pom-pom beach tunic – $68: I’ve finally stepped up my beachwear game after years of cheap knit shorts and old jersey dresses. It’s so freaking cute and can’t wait to wear it in Florida this April. I went with a size small, which is my normal J.Crew size for sweaters. It had more than enough room to fit my hips.

BudgetUpdateFeb2015v3

GIFTED
As always, I want to be transparent about what I’ve received from companies for review or as part of a collaboration. (Or, in this case, Dave purchased for me as a gift.) I’m very selective about the pieces I accept and will only work with companies I feel good about recommending.

  • DUO “Karin” block heel pumps in navy (worn here): Think of these as Ferragamo Varas for girls on a budget. The classic shape is absolutely darling and they’re well made. I went down a half size, despite what the reviews say.
  • Kate Spade toucan sandals (from Dave for Valentine’s Day, worn here): I know toucan sandals aren’t for everyone, but I couldn’t be happier with them! They fit true to size.
  • Rebecca Minkoff mini “Affair” bag in white with gold hardware (c/o Shopbop): I admire girls like Fran who are saving for a Chanel bag. I’d love to own one, but I don’t think I could actually pull the trigger after setting aside money. It’s just so expensive! This bag is every bit as classic as the Chanel icon, but it’s a heck of a lot more reasonable at $195.
  • Garnet Hill striped cashmere sweater (worn here): I received this a week ago and I’ve already worn it twice. It’s so soft and holds its shape.

[spacer]

UP NEXT

Two words: vacation clothes! The day after Dave’s sister gets hitched in April, we’re heading to Fort Lauderdale for a week! It’s actually the same city and week of our first vacation four years ago (aww), but we’re staying in a nicer hotel. 😉 We’re planning a day trip to Palm Beach where I hope to wear this dress and buy a pair of Stubbs & Wootton loafers (worth going over budget for). I’ve also got my eye on a pair of shorts from J.Crew Factory in “blue grotto” and retro sunglasses in white (just $48!). I’ve also got a crush on the orange and pink dresses by Rory Beca. I’ll probably pick up this Banana Republic dress once there’s a good sale. It’s not the most exciting piece, but I see myself wearing it to work often over spring and summer.

[spacer]

TRIED & RETURNED

Of course, with every successful shopping month, there are some misses:

  • Re:named midi skirt in turquoise: This was darling and I loved the color and fabric, but it arrived with a broken zipper. I tried it on anyway and the waist seemed too snug.
  • English Factory white dress (featured in this post): Gorgeous, but way too small. I had purchased a medium and there was no way it would accommodate my hips. The large was already sold out, but I’m not entirely sure that would have given me enough room. I need a dress with a swingy cut.
  • Diane von Furstenberg “Fleurette” dress: I’ve long admired this dress and was eager to try it on after I saw that it was on sale. The fabric and quality were divine, but it didn’t do my shape any favors. (I felt like an eccentric extra on The Golden Girls, which I’d be fine with if it didn’t make me look twice my size.) It has really good reviews here, which makes me think it’s for an entirely different body type.

Budget Update

January 26, 2015 by jessica 13 Comments

BudgetUpdateJan2015v2

A new year calls for a fresh budget and a new Pinterest board to record my 2015 wardrobe additions. If you don’t already have a board dedicated to new purchases (or even planned purchases), I’d recommend it. It’s interesting to see the direction your wardrobe is taking with a quick glance. Evidently, I’m all about stripes (no surprise there) punctuated with rich color.

[spacer]

Each month, I’ve earmarked $250 to spend on clothing and accessories. I consider blog revenue and eBay sales to be “fun money” and will add a portion of that additional income to my monthly budget (if it doesn’t end up in my travel fund first). I’ll record any budget increases or expenditures here each month. Anything that has been ordered and has not yet arrived will appear on the next budget update. I’m also allowing any extra money to rollover into the next month.

  • $250 starting budget
  • + $0 rollover from last month
  • + $300 added to the budget this month
  • – $404 spent this month
  • = $146 remaining

[spacer]

PURCHASED

  • J.Crew Factory Striped Popover – $27: I tried this on in-store right before Christmas and immediately fell in love with it (so soft!). I bought it in one size larger than usual so it can double as a beach cover up. Until then, I’ve been wearing it to work with a pair of my favorite pants and classic ballet flats.
  • J.Crew Silk Tie Scarf – $10: This was an impulsive purchase when I stopped at the store to do a post-holiday return. It was 50% off the sale price and I figured $10 for 100% silk was totally worth it.
  • Line & Dot Pink Dress – $33: I’m so freaking excited about this purchase. It was part of Shopbop’s final sale section, but I took a gamble and ordered it anyway. It’s girly and fun to twirl in. We’re looking at Puerto Rican vacations right now and this dress will be the first thing in my suitcase.
  • J.Crew Striped Blouse – $40: This is a lot cuter in person than it looks online. I purchased it to wear to work in the summer, but it’s also cute with the shorts I purchased this month. I’d like to bring it to the tailor to have the shoulders narrowed. Right now, they’re a little too wide for my frame.
  • ASOS Striped Dress – $15: I’ve already waxed poetic about this dress here.
  • Tory Burch Tote – $133: This is definitely this season’s hero piece. I have a friend from college who now works for Tory Burch. Around the holidays, she gave me a coupon for 30% off a purchase. I also received a $200 Visa gift card as a holiday gift from work. It was pretty much the perfect storm to splurge on a bag I wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise. Not only is it gorgeous, it’s ultra practical. I’ll be able to use it as a work tote and on vacations. There’s more than enough room for my camera and endless souvenirs collected throughout the day.
  • J.Crew Shorts – $48: I adore the print on these shorts and couldn’t pass them up. It’s hard to tell in the stock photo, but there’s a very small pleat in the front, which I’m not a huge fan of. You can’t tell it’s there with the loose shirts I’m planning to wear with them. Just keep it in mind if you like to tuck anything in and your stomach isn’t totally flat.
  • Old Navy Striped Top – $14 (not pictured): I can’t find this online, but it’s totally worth stopping at the store to purchase. It’s a thicker knit that seems like it will hold up well. I had to try on a few different ones in my size to find the best fit.
  • Old Navy Floral Scarf – $14 (not pictured): I bought this in the white and black colorway that isn’t online. It reminded me of an old DVF print.
  • Loft Windowpane Skirt – $70 (not pictured): I know it’s foolish to buy a full-priced item at Loft. However, I couldn’t find it online and it was something I knew I’d regret if I passed it up. It reminds me of a skirt from Tory Burch’s pre-fall collection.

[spacer]

UP NEXT

Once we get a vacation on the calendar, I’d like to use a portion of my tax return to buy a few new pieces to pack. (I always wanted to be that girl who has a new vacation wardrobe!) While I won’t be able to completely outfit myself on whatever amount I set aside, I’m hoping to add a pair of espadrilles, a few silky camis, this skirt (definitely a splurge, so it might not happen), and a couple of casual dresses. I’ve also ordered the Loeffler Randall “Starla” sandals in gold. You may remember the style from a couple of years ago. I’m beyond excited to see that they re-released the pair. I used a 30% Piperlime coupon and $100 in Gap, Inc. rewards that I had saved up to bring the price down to $23 (squee!). The sandals are backordered until April. Hopefully they’ll still arrive, given that Piperlime is closing at the end of the quarter.

[spacer]

TRIED & RETURNED

Of course, with every successful shopping month, there are some misses:

  • J.Crew Retro Floral Popover: I bought this to wear with the shorts, sort of like a practical romper. The polyester blouse was so staticky that it was miserable to try on and the shoulders run incredibly narrow. I also tried it in a size up, but it still didn’t feel comfortable.
  • DVF Striped Julian Dress: I’ve already mentioned this one quite a bit. It really is darling and fit well. I just felt lukewarm about it. I think the sassy snake print version in silk jersey might be more up my alley.
  • Lucy Paris Splatter Skirt: This reminded me of the Tibi skirt I couldn’t afford. The satin was soft and it was well made, but I didn’t expect the elastic at the back. I hated that. It also hit just below my knees, which is ultra unflattering on me. I didn’t love it enough for alterations.
  • Cameo Night Tale Dress: So cute, right? In the previous Cameo dress I tried on, I wore a medium. So, I ordered both a medium and large in this one to be on the safe side. Neither fit. There was no way the zipper was even close to going up in the large. This may have been the catalyst for my “get fit” kick.

Tax Return Splurge

January 14, 2015 by jessica 12 Comments

TaxReturnSplurge2015v5

We’re narrowing in on the most wonderful time of the year: tax return season! Now, if I were more fiscally prudent, I’d adjust my withholding so I wouldn’t get taxes back nor would I have to pay in. However, I rather enjoy kicking off the year with a cash windfall. And, what better time to splurge on something utterly indulgent and designer-y? (After bills are paid, of course.)

[spacer]

I’ve actually been indulging in a “Tax Return Splurge” for the last seven years. The first item I purchased was a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. I had recently finished college and lost a lot of weight. (It was the first time I could actually fit into a designer item!) I couldn’t justify the $355 price tag with my meager salary, so I convinced myself that a tax return could be a savings plan for something special. It was the most money I had ever spent on an item of clothing and, yet, it was a purchase I never once regretted. I still cherish the dress and wear it from time to time. (That’s the beauty of a wrap dress. The adjustable tie can be cinched tighter or looser depending on how well your diet is going.) After that gateway item, there was a YSL arty ring (when “Yves” was still part of the name), Ferragamo “Varina” flats (Best. Ever.), a Rebecca Minkoff “MAC” bag, two years of Kate Spade pumps, and the Coach purse I wore nearly everyday last year.

[spacer]

That last part is worth highlighting. The “Tax Return Splurge” seems frivolous, but it doesn’t have to be. I’ve used this opportunity to invest in a good quality, signature item from a classic brand. The items elevate my wardrobe, fit my lifestyle, and become those I wear the most. They’re thoughtful purchases. So, what am I daydreaming about this year? A pair of Tod’s loafers is high on my list (in white, even though they’re terribly impractical), as are the following items:

[spacer]

BUCKET BAG
We have Mansur Gavriel to thank for making the bucket bag cool again. Last summer’s must-have silhouette promises to be a hit again this year. The drawstring carryalls are ultra practical and, when it’s done in a rich fire engine red (like Rebecca Minkoff’s version exclusive to Shopbop), it’s undeniably luxe.

[spacer]

KAREN WALKER SUNGLASSES
After eschewing sunglasses for so long, I finally embraced them in 2014 for two reasons: UV protection (obvi) and I no longer have to worry about blinking mid-photo! I adore Karen Walker’s bold, playful designs and would go with the “Number One” style in tortoise shell.

[spacer]

DVF WRAP DRESS
A gal can never have too many DVF dresses! If you don’t already own one, start saving your pennies. One of her curve-hugging, flattering dresses is a huge confidence booster and you’ll wear it for years. I’ve got my eye on the mini Julian style with the short, flirty hemline. (May I also suggest wearing a half slip underneath? It’s not the sexiest thing, but it keeps you from having a Marilyn moment on a windy day.)

[spacer]

FERRAGAMO VARINA FLATS
I feel like such a brat yearning for another pair of Ferragamo shoes, but I love the Varina style so much! They fit me perfectly and I’m giddy whenever I put them on. I already own red and turquoise, so I’d like to go with a classic black pair.

Budget Update

December 26, 2014 by jessica 12 Comments

BudgetUpdateDec2014

I may have gone a little overboard in a month that’s supposed to be about other people, but there were too many great deals to pass up. (Isn’t that always a convenient excuse?)

[spacer]

ERIN FETHERSTON DRESS

First up, the most stressful purchase of the month: a cocktail dress to wear to Dave’s office party. I’ve gained a bit of weight over the last few months and I didn’t feel confident in any of the dresses already in my closet. Sure, I could have squeezed into something with the help of Spanx, but I wanted something I was excited to wear. I first tried this dress. I thought I could get over the goofiness of the ruffled flaps in person, but they’re in such an awkward spot and kind of looked like limp fins. Eventually I came across this Erin Fetherston dress on Amazon. All of my favorite cocktail dresses are by the designer. You’d think I’d learn to stop wasting time trying on other dresses when I know one of her looks will win my heart.

[spacer]

LULU FROST RING

I’ve wanted the Lulu Frost #2 code ring for a well over a year and the perfect excuse fell into my lap a few weeks ago. At the end of November, I received a 40% off coupon from the company as a thank you for supporting the brand through my blog (such an unexpected surprise!). Naturally, I placed an order immediately. I’m fond of the number for a few reasons: my numerology number is a two, I’m a Gemini (the twins), and, most meaningful, I met Dave on February 2nd (2/2). I love having an everyday piece that commemorates our first date.

[spacer]

MONICA VINADER BRACELET

This Monica Vinader bracelet also made its way home to my jewelry box after Black Friday. It’s incredibly gorgeous and well made. I’ll admit that two silver pieces seems a little uncharacteristic this month, given that I usually go for oversize gold pieces. However, I do favor silver tones for fine jewelry. I think it’s a little more versatile and mixes well with yellow gold.

[spacer]

TORY BURCH SANDALS

Last, but not least, sandals. Sandals are kind of a stupid purchase for December. I get that. But these Tory Burch slides are so pretty and a heck of a deal at $132. I also tried the petal toe ring sandals from Loeffler Randall, which were a little uncomfortable at the toe strap. I suspect it would get softer after some wear and I did like that the scallop strap had elastic on the sides to accommodate different foot widths.

[spacer]

UP NEXT

So, where do we go from here? You’ll see below that I was lucky enough to add quite a bit of money to my budget this month. It almost covered my purchases for December, leaving me with just over $100 to last through February. I do have a $200 Visa gift card to spend on something indulgent. I’m also going to add a couple hundred from this year’s work bonus to my budget, since that was unexpected money anyway. I’d still like to snag a summery purse (perhaps this one) and a new sundress if we do book a trip to Florida. Wouldn’t a Clover Canyon dress be fun for a tropical escape? I love the Dancing Silk Slip Dress. (With my Shopbop collaboration, I receive a shopping credit each month and am seriously considering that dress, even if the bra situation for the frock baffles me.)

[spacer]

THE BUDGET

I started with a six-month budget of $1,500. I consider blog revenue and eBay sales to be “fun money” and will add a portion of that additional income to my overall seasonal budget (if it doesn’t end up in my travel fund first). I’ll record any budget increases or expenditures here each month. Anything that has been ordered and has not yet arrived will appear on the next budget update. (There will also be an annual “Tax Refund Splurge” that goes above my budget, but I’ll devote a post to that in January.)

  • $1,500 starting budget
  • + $655 added to the budget this season ($455 this month)
  • – $2052.59 spent this season ($473.54 this month)
  • = $102.41 remaining

Gifted Items:
This section sort of comes off as braggy, which isn’t my intention. Blogging is getting less and less transparent and I want to be clear with what I’ve purchased and what items I’ve received as part of a collaboration. I’m awfully picky about the brands I work with–and won’t post items I don’t love–so rest assured these are solid.

I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog I’m challenging myself to get through a backlog of travel photos before we book our next trip. First up, photos of the gothic York Minster. I’m not religious in the slightest but I can’t resist stunning architecture and the opportunity to climb hundreds of cathedral stairs for a city view. This one only had a single rest stop about halfway up the flight of 275 steps for a closeup view of the flying buttresses — and a waiver you had to sign before your ascent to promise you’re healthy enough to make it.

While it claims to be the most haunted place in Europe and is dubbed the city of a thousand ghosts, we only encountered the wire-mesh sculptures of Ghosts in the Gardens (@the_york_bid) and the family of souvenir ghosts I brought home from @yorkghostmerchants.
