I’m surprised that I only added four new things to my closet this month, with the exception of these sunglasses that Dave bought for me as a birthday gift while we were in London. I tend to go overboard before a trip with purchases that I “need” to round out the capsule wardrobe tucked in my suitcase. My favorite purchase of the month are the sandals that I’ve had on my wish list for years. In fact, this is the third summer I’ve wistfully looked at them, but thought that $250 was ridiculous to spend on sandals — and it is, but it isn’t. These go with everything. I’m sure the cost-per-wear at the end of the season will justify the upfront spend given how much I’ve already worn them.
It was also a light purchase month on the home front. We bought a few things on vacation: a couple of ceramic bowls, a vintage decanter tag to label our brandy, and a vintage cricket ball that I thought was too charming to leave behind. Other than that, we only bought a set of acrylic tumblers and a storage basket.

Olá! I’m finally back in the swing of things after our trip to Portugal and my birthday celebration on Thursday! To say Portugal was amazing would be an understatement. I keep thinking about the intricate tiles, the bright colors, and the azure water. If you ever have a chance to visit, say yes in a heartbeat! I preferred Lisbon to Porto, but both were absolutely stunning. I’ll share photos, along with our travel diary and recommendations as soon as I’m able to weed through the 1,000 photos I took!
We’re taking this weekend to relax, get back into our routine, take a break from overindulging in food and drink, and tidying up the place. We typically clean the house before a long vacation, but didn’t have the opportunity this time around because our cat, Bacon, was incredibly sick right before we left — to the point where we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. We spent the entire pre-vacay weekend taking him on emergency vet visits and trying to coax him to eat. With the help of appetite stimulants and anti-nausea medicine, he eventually ate a little bit and we felt better about leaving him with Dave’s parents. We’re so grateful — and relieved — that we came back to a healthy cat. (The working theory is that he got into something he shouldn’t have, either a plant or a cleaning supply, that poisoned him. I’ll spare you the detailed symptoms.)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Orlando Soria is one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram, and I can’t wait for his new show, Unspouse My House, to air! (I also highly recommend his book.)

We had lunch at Korrito in London, where they serve Korean burritos and burrito bowls. I’m determined to replicate it at home and found two recipes — here and here — to get me started.
I can’t pull off this hat, but could someone please buy it and Instagram the hell out of it?!

In Case You Missed It:
Like any self-respecting millennial, I have an affinity for houseplants. I can’t step foot in a greenhouse without coming home with a new plant. There’s a lot of theories as to why my generation can’t get enough greenery, from wellness trends to replacing children with plants, and it has resulted in a doubling of houseplant sales over the past three years to $1.7 billion. All I can say is that it’s incredibly satisfying to put in relatively little work and be rewarded with something that thrives on that neglect. Plus, they’re such an easy way to update a room, adding texture and interest to a corner with minimal effort — especially when there’s a great planter to go with it.
I oftentimes have a planter at the ready in our house, just waiting for the perfect plant on my next trip to the nursery. I try not to hoard planters, but it’s really easy to do so when there are so many great options lately. I put together a roundup of 15 favorites below!
